Tweetif it were me, I would pay......I would end up paying one way or another.
TweetSo I'm leaving the doctor's office the other day. I was backing up slowly, because I was parked next to an extended cab F-150 and I drive a convertible (big-ass blind spot) Mustang. As I has inching out of my parking place, a regal caught my bumper as it was coming by. It left a black streak down both doors (4-door) and probably a small crease, I just couldn't tell because od the black paint.
Well, the old 4-foot man jumps out and yells, "Give me your liscence!" I kinda gigled and handed it to him, as I apologized.
I really felt bad, because it was my fault, but had the old farts had any reflex at all they could've stopped or drove around me.
At any rate, legally I feel like it's my fault, so I told the couple I wasn't going to report it on my insurance, and I wanted them to get their car fixed at which ever body shop they wished, and I'd pay out of my pocket. They agreed, and realized I was trying to be fair. Well, my dad told me to tell them to jump up my ass, because it was private property, and in AL. you are responsible for your own vehicle in the event of an accident.
I had given my word that I'd pay, so I am still going to pay for it at this point.
Now their insurance company keeps calling me about the situation after we agreed to not report it.
I gave these people ALL my information, even my work telephone number, so they'd know I wasn't trying to screw them.
Now that they are swaying from the original agreement, I'm SERIOUSLY considering telling them to get phucked.
WHAT DO YA'LL THINK???

Tweeti would pay but if they are gonna be asses about it let your ins co. handle it they will make them wait forever
Tweetwell, situation reversed what would you want to happen? They called their insurance to be safe. I would pay it, but that is me.
Tweetjust pay it and hope they did not call your insurance. i deal with people everyday who fuck them selves by letting their insurance pay for small claims. private property does not mean everyone for themselves it just makes it harder on everyone to get settled because the cops are not involved, then the insurance just usually pay for their own to make it easy.
reasons to pay it
1.) if you don't you'll get bad karma
2.) you could fuck yourself on your insurance
TweetWell, I understand that they don't know me from Adam's housecat, but we have the same insurance company. I really wanted to pay out of my pocket, because my insurance is outrageous now. I'm scared to death it's going to go up again. Wouldn't there need to be a police report if the insurance company handled it?
It just seems to me that they'd give me a chance first. I told them to get an estimate where they wanted it fixed, and I'd pay. Simple as that.
I do see where they are coming from, because there's just not that many honest people around anymore. I guess it just insulted me, when the insurance co. called right after we established a verbal agreement.

TweetOh, and I didn't get their telephone number, which sounds kinda stupid, but I really don't need to talk to them. I guess my frame of mind was that the ball is in their court..

Tweetoh, I didn't know you had the same company. Still, offer to pay outta pocket, pay directly to them and don't get the insurance co. involved....don't answer calls from them etc. I would call the people again and explain you are paying outta pocket so they get the clue.
Tweetwell if they have an agent like me then they did what they were told to, not trust anyone, especially a kid driving a mustang. (no offense intended ). if you have the same company then call them to tell them u want to pay out of pocket. and always respond to their calls asap. and no their does not need to be a police report for insurance to get involved.
Tweetno cc no, bad girl. never ignore them, they can make it hard on you, so don't make their job hard on them!!!!!!! REMEMBER YOU WANT THIS OFF OF YOUR RECORD, IGNORE THEM AND I GUARANTEE IT WILL BE ON THERE.Originally posted by Sugarbaby

TweetThanks EDVEDR, that's exactly the kind of advice I was looking for! Certainly no offense taken, I can't stand the stereotypical "Mustang Punk"!!
I think I make situations harder than they are sometimes by merely "overthinking".
appreciated your clearheadedness, and everyone else's for that matter!
I love you guys...
