so this weekend was my youngest first college visit. got to meet and swap info with the football coaches and got a tour of the school not going to go into details on the school he is dead set on but it is a trade school for ship building. i was super impressed with the school and how it is ran. it is an exclusive and hell of a hard school to get into, so now we are doing all the things possible to make him a top tier applicant and get him into school. he already has a leg up being a starting athlete but damn if their acceptance rate is worse than harvard. fingers crossed and praying but we have a year to get him to the top. cool thing is he has busted his ass from sophmore year to get straight a's and excel. super proud dad moment for sure

thanks man, we are going to do all we can to get him accepted while working with the admin office.

i was just thinking the other day about how most dad's want their kids to follow in their footsteps and surpass what they did in their lives. i can honestly say that i am glad that he choose a completely different path than i did. i dont think he has the attitude or desire to do what i did for my career not to mention no money in it. my entire family who were a part of the military discouraged me from joining up but i had it in my head from when i was young enough to remember that i wanted to serve and be better than everyone else in my family in their careers. i did it and looking back i wouldnt trade any of my experiences at all but it def wasnt easy on my wife and kids nor the rest of the family. so i guess a rewarding career that pays well and is full filling is the best choice. not that mine wasnt but it def came with lots of pain and sacrifice along the way and i am glad he is going a different route

That's awesome bro! It's crazy how fast they grow up, yet so amazing seeing them becoming their own person. Wishing all the best for him.

I don't have kids myself, but I've watched my niece and nephew grow up. My brother and my nephew are like peas in a pod. My brother sent me a meme that said nothing can prepare you for the transition from dada to daddy to dad to "hey brah". LOL Kids are the greatest.

Young man knows what he wants. WAY better than a 4 year college degree in queer ethnic women's studies. HAHA hell way better than a regular liberal arts degree for sure.
