At one time in my life I had 6gym memberships…I held two for a long time. Then I built out a pretty decent home gym. As my sons friends say, “dude you have a gym! You said home gym! Not a GYM!”

It isn’t that big basically it’s three racks wide. I have a smith, a REP half rack 5000 with the 1” bolts, and the next space over is a room for a rack and a half prob but this is my dumbbell area and movement space. Even with that I kept Anytime fitness due to late work outs and traveling. I preferred working out at gyms for at least legs.

Recently my son has been wanting to workout in a gym. I’d dropped anytime so some management issues and had just been training at home.

In AZ all the Golds gyms got turned to the name EŌS. At anytime I didn’t have to deal with this stuff but at these EOS gyms no one puts weights back. In my younger days the older guys would say that was part of your “functional” workouts was placing weight back on racks!

I don’t know how women even come to these gyms needing a Hammer machine but it’s got weight all round on the floor and six plates on the machine!

Is the status of protocol in gyms gone? A few of my friends gyms deal with this but one guys gym says he doesn’t and people clean up themselves? Is this a sign of the times?

People are self centered bro. My gym most people still rack their weights. Thing that bugs me is all the people flexing and taking selfies or sitting on a bench not training and looking at their phone.

that and motherfucking tripods videoing their entire workouts. i loose my shit on someone almost on a daily basis. cool thing for me is i am close to a military installation that doesnt allow it at all. so i go there quite frequently.

this new generation blows my mind man. i asked one kid who the fuck are you and what the fuck have you done in your life to be showing people how to do anything. as he lightly curls his 20lbs on the cables while screaming like he is dying and posing between each set. that was a gentle losing my shit instance but i have had some bad ones where they packed it up and left. good thing the main owner of the gym likes me because i would have been canceled a long time ago if not

Oh man! It feels like have the gym is filming their workouts but might be newbies at best. My son had this short troll walk up to him and asked him how to use a certain machine. She said she needed to add it to her filming.

I just stare. My times already being wasted to engage with stupidity just makes my workout suck!

haha man, i had this punk come up to me and ask me to video him doing tbar rows. he had the tbar loaded all the way to the end with 45s, so it was a shit ton of weight. i obviously told him yeah go fuck yourself you clown. he got someone else to do it and i was watching him as i did cardio. he literally did a single. i know exactly what he was doing too. he did the single and was going to loop it and make it look like he did a bunch of reps. i hate what the gym culture and society has became. i stay 100% completely covered up in a hoodie and everything year round. in prep for the last week all the way into the off season. if i do pull it off to do cardio or before i leave because it's 100 outside, i always get 19 different people trying to ask me stupid questions. i have even had a couple youngsters say they thought i was a power lifter and were blown away at how big and in shape i was haha. that's because i do it for me not the bs attention and likes on social media. i do put a video teaser up every now and then

Oh yeah we have a guy who streams his WOs. he is a big mofo and juiced to the gills. One time He was filming and I happened to be in the back ground. Do not know what came over me but I started aggressively scratching my balls then flipped the bird to the phone which was on the tripod.

i get the power lifters who are using top level online coaches needing critiques on their lifts. i do understand that aspect but all these other clowns absolutely irritate the ever more piss out of me man. it is more of a pet peeve of mine than putting weights back. in my normal gym it is one of two people doing it. 1- the fat guy or 2- the really skinny lanky guy and both of them think they are mister olympia. never anyone that is impressive doing these sort of things. the dude i lost my shit on was sinking his whole life into becoming a famous trainer/influncer. he didnt have a car after he got out of the marines and could barely afford to eat but was sinking everything into that game. he even moved out to veince beach last year. i am all about chasing your dreams and all but you have to have a back up plan and if you cant pay the bills to begin with then you need a normal job that can pay your bills. people's opinions of themselves blow my mind. i have always tried to surround myself with people that would shoot me straight and not blow smoke up my ass. now if someone ask you your opinion and you shoot them straight you are just jealous of how great they are and they get all butt hurt.
i know i may suck but i work hard and give it all i got and at the end of the day i leave nothing on the table. that's the best i can do with shit genetics and i enjoy the process for the process and not the attention

EoS is a crappy gym. there are a few good gyms in the phoenix area tho. im a fan of Mountianside costs a bit more but less of the stupid, however i have noticed an uptick of the yonger folks. alot more girls powerlifting than i have ever seen before. i tried to figure out the gym. has it got worse? or just more crowed. is it the reuglars or new folk?

for me its a mix. the regulars know better but sometimes do it, gym employees cant police stupid all day, theres to much of it. the filming, lets hope thats a short lived fad, in general a bit more crowded but different than 10 years ago. theres alway the one idoit that ties up 3 or 4 machines with towel and personl shit so he can do his routine?? i say he cause its always some dude doing it.

i think people in general today arent as curtious to others, very intiteled and selfish in general and it just carries over in the gym. i w/o at off times and stay clear peak hours at all cost. must people are pretty good about cleaning up after themselves tho.

figure the asshole in the gym is the same asshole in the store shopping so i just chaulk it up as it is what it is....

For us old guys many of us wanted to play in a band and dreams of being a rock star. Now it is being a youtube or instgran "influencer".

So many will try, 99.99999999% will fail.

when i go to cosco or walmart i need bp meds beta blockers and nerve meds. my wife is one of the most laid back chilled people on the planet and by the time we are done she is about to explode. had to go in yesterday to get some stuff and holy crap it is a test of human patience not to rip people into tiny little pieces. for me it seems like cosco has all the people that are clueless and could give two shits about manners or any normal social abilities whatsoever. absolutely just blows me away

Costco is the worst. People will literally stop walking in the middle of the isle to look at something. Blocking the entire isle with their cart, kids and fat asses while people pile up behind them trying to go around.

Common courtesy is completely disappearing from our society. Nobody gives a crap anymore. I go to this little bakery not too far from my house sometimes in the morning on my cheat day and they had some samples out on a tray for people to try while they shopped. This fat bastard walked by, grabbed every single sample on the tray and stood there eating all of them. It took every ounce of strength I had not to drag him outside and throw his ass in the street. I'm not bad mouthing anyone overweight. I love everyone who is trying to better their health. But, if you're going to stand there eating a whole tray of doughnut samples, that's why you are where you are.

The gyms are just as bad. I travel to different gyms sometimes and it's all cameras, tripods, cell phones and production. Doesn't look like anyone is actually training. Just filming themselves looking like idiots. Society has changed so much. I miss the old days.

Dealing with distractions at the gym can indeed be frustrating, especially when it involves someone using workout time for purposes other than fitness. It's essential to stay focused on your own goals and not let external factors negatively impact your workout experience.
