Never done a big international vacation. My wife and I have saved 3 years for this. We are going to live like rock stars. Tell me you tips, tricks, suggestions ect for 1. international travel and 2. Thailand related.

17 days is what we are have booked. Also airfare in Thailand is CHEAP so we will fly from Bangkok where our flight lands to Chang mai for the temples and scenery, then Pei Pei for some beach action, and lastly back to Bangkok to explore the big city. Are we missing anything?

We chose Pei Pei because it is 1/3 the price of everything of Phuket and WAY less touristy.

I was there as a kid. Not much has changed. The currency is baht which is about 5 cents. You can get good thai sticks cheap, buddah sticks better.
      Have fun

The wife and I are both VERY spicy eaters. BUT......Thai food is the hottest I have ever had. Luckily we have hardened guts as a meal does not go by without jalapeno, serrano or habaneros. I have eaten Thai food at a little hole in the wall with legit Thai folk. Lit me on fire where I think I lost my cognitive function temporarily.

I will be careful, those folk are savages.

First, they eat food that could kill because it is so hot. Then their fav sport is the most brutal sport fighting in the world. (Well, Lethwei is I guess but it is just Muay Thai and add headbutts. Comes from the same Muay Boran)

I went to a night club called Thai Heaven. It is equel to any night club even in New York. They have Thai Boxing, the real shit no rules. After the warriors beat the shit out of each other you can tip them, 5 baht 25 cents is a generous tip and well worth the entertainment

I want to go to pro fights in a stadium. I am a huge Thai Boxing fan. Also would love to get some training in. I have only trained with my coach my camp mates and a few pros that come through the camp.

My brother went for two months. Eat breakfast/lunch at the little stands on the side of the streets. He said the food is amazing, you get a ton and its super cheap.

Apparently Tony Huge is a celebrity there, his face is on the wall in some famous gym over there.

I have been to Thailand 6 times. I spent 2 months last year there. Been to Bangkok every trip, Pattaya and few islands. Chang Mai is in the north in the mountains. Never been but it is suppose to be very nice and not as hot as Southern Thailand. I love Pattaya because lots of gyms and plenty of "supplements" at great prices there. Plus a few smaller beaches which are fun near to Pattaya. These are a things I suggest doing in Bangkok.

      1) The Grand Palace. 500 baht about 16 bucks admission fee. It is cool and very historical. The King use to live there.
      2) Wat Pho-(the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), or Wat Phra Chetuphon, is right behind the Temple of the Emerald Buddha – it’s a must-see for any first-time visitor to Bangkok. Also very close to the Grand Palace
      3) Wat Arun-(nicknamed the 'Temple of Dawn') is partly made up of colorfully decorated spires and stands majestically over the water.
I suggest seeing it a sunset or night. It is also pretty close to the Grand Palace but across the river. You need to take the water taxi.
      4) Chatuchak Weekend Market-awesome market open on Saturday and Sunday. LOTS of stuff to buy.
      5) Muscle Factory-biggest gym on South Asia. Tons of equipment. Be warned, NO AC!!!!
      6) Since this is a "muscle board" you gotta try out the juice in Bangkok. Soi 4 in Nana, on the main road near the leather shop has good gear. Takes one day to get it. You pay half then half when you pick it up. Also a great pharmacy near Pat Pong Night Market.
      7) Amphawa Floating Market-you ride in a little boat, up and down a canal buying stuff. Food, souvenirs and other stuff. Unique. I forgot what it cost.

****There is a night life which is CRAZY in Bangkok. I went with a buddy in December who likes this crap, some WILD stuff. Live sex shows, etc. Not my thing but Nana and the Pat Pong area have plenty of this stuff****but be warned LOTS of crooked Thai girls looking to make a quick buck.

The Thai people are very welcoming and nice. One problem is they language barrier can be challenging. But overall they treat tourists VERY nice BUT be cautious with hustlers.
