I have a 3 year old American Eskimo male unaltered. My ex has only been around girl dogs. Casper is a well behaved dog and very smart and minds me to a Tee. My EX was trying to get him off the couch, instead of asking me to do it she reached for his collar I told her don't she did it anyway. Casper saw this as a threat because she reached for his neck. He tore he a new arce hole. Not hurting her badly but let her know this is not a way to treat me.
I can do it-he trust me nothing happens. I don't do it often and never raising my voice when I do it.

Casper is 18# of pure fury when he wants.

A male dog still should not do this. It is an aberrant behavior. I was a dog catcher for a few years in college and saw so many kids who had their face disfigured by a similar situation to yours.

A dog (unless a working dog) should be submissive to all humans. Otherwise it is a liability.

Glad she was not hurt bad. BTW, why was your ex at your house?

I feel my dog understands I'm alpha and if there is a problem I will handle it first. Then if I'm not there she is to protect the family. My personal way of dealing with it is if she bit someone out of anger that didn't threaten the family. I would put her down. That goes for any dog I have had or exists, even the ankle biters that attack all the time. Not just my Pits. I have had many and none have crossed the line. They have all been the sweetest best dogs.

Some dogs can be dangerous in certain situations. Doesnt mean its a bad dog, just cant be put in certain situations. I grew up with a german shepherd who loved people but I had an uncle who would get violently attacked by this dog every time he walked in the door. For no reason at all. We had to take a lot of precautions with that dog and keep away from a lot of people but he had a good life. People were scared to death of that dog and if you were a stranger coming to the door , that dog would want to rip your head off and shit down your neck

Hey man, no offense meant. I have just seen too many kids bitten very badly by dogs who exert dominance like that. It was not self defense, it was dominance related IMO humble opinion. He was showing her she could not tell him what to do. He knew. They are smart.

Your dog man. Again, just my opinion. My take, dogs should not bite or even act aggressively to humans unless really attacked or in real defense of themselves, their territory and or family (pack) Trying to get a dog off a couch is not an attack my friend. It was discipline. Anyway, your dog, again i am just discussing with you my opinion.
