I was never a fan of Phil during his career. His physique was phenomenal, but I wasn't a fan of his personality at all. He just came across as an arrogant ass to me. Didn't like it, or him. However, I've been listening to some interviews with him more recently and it seems like he's changed quite a bit. I thought he was great on this podcast and gives some insight into his life and his thought processes. If he would have been like this when he was competing, I probably wouldn't have disliked him so much. Hell, I probably would have been a fan of the guy. He's becoming more likeable lately.
yeah man, i agree and not many of the other pros cared to much for him either. i am actually good friends with one of the top 5 212 guys from a couple of years ago and he told me some stories about him. he says he is one of the few that really didnt fit into the community like everyone else did.
he did a guest posing at a local show by me and completely showed his ass, so from that point on i was never a fan. i would assume that his change of attitude and such are a business decision to make his income better. which i really dont understand that type of mindset because it could have been far more lucrative for him while competing as well since we are a fan driven sport. what do i know though? haha
