first off everyone have a safe extended weekend off from work. now with that said this isnt veteran's day or a celebration weekend so to speak. most people dont even think about the significance of this holiday. they just see it as an extended weekend off from work and bbq with the family or what have you. it is a time to reflect those that paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can all be free and enjoy that time with friends and families. i challenge you to take the time to go visit one of the memorials in your area if only for a few minutes and then carry on with your day. not the day to thank a vet it's a day to remember. i have made it a tradition to take my kids to the memorials in my area and walk the memorial park. we have a number of monuments in our area that are quite breath taking and it gives them a perspective of the number of people that have been killed in combat while defending freedom. the number of names on the vietnam wall and a couple of the others is mind blowing to see.
