Tweetconcrete for sure. dont know about the 4x4 though
TweetI built a free standing deck for a friend. It weighs about 400 pounds. My question
Would 4x4 at each corner with lag bolts support it? Concrete them in Y or N?

Tweetany pics?
wood in the concrete id say no. wood will rot out. they have sets you can install into the concrete and then the 4x4. moisture is not you friend, depending on situation pressure treated lumber may be an option.. im not a carpenter by trade thats just my .02 cents
TweetIt is pressure treated for sure. I will take pictures
Tweeti dont know why 4x4 wouldnt work you could always get 6x6. dont know if you can get marine grade pt wood as it has a higher pt chemical in it. i built my fence across the front of my property with 6x6 post and then 8x8,10x10,12x12 where the gate is and put 2x6 boards over the top of horse fence and all the wood it marine grade pt. it will cost more money but the marine grade is alot better..
TweetYou already built it or plan to? I'm a nd generation contractor and have been building for over 23 years now. Marine grade pressure treated preferably, but regular pressure treated will work. You could get away with 4x4s but 6x6 would be ideal. Depending on the length and width one at each corner should work as long as you are under 8 feet each direction. I would use 2x8 for the joist but 2x6 would work. Notch the corner post and set the outer band inside of that notch so that the outer joist rest securely on the post and then screw it to the post. Use joist galvanized joist hangers for the common joist on each end. If the deck boards are really wet from being freshly pressure treated, do not space them, but them tight and when they dry out they will have a nice space between them for water drainage.

TweetIt is already built. It took mot of the day off and on, mostly off.
It is pressure treated with below grade treatment.
