TweetMy dogs jaws were powerful enough to bite/crush the cow bones and they would choke on the shards. So instead of bone like a femur I gave them the hip bone. It has like 3 big round options and they couldn't get a good enough bite on the rounded edges to break it up. They gnawed on them like slobbering zombies but never choked on pieces so I felt safe giving them that type bone. Bones from a butcher I would be concerned about bacteria if the bones had any meat tissue left and had not been kept refrigerated.

TweetI appreciate the info from you guys. I dont want that lady to bring the bones. I dont know her and she says she wanted to give me bones for all the stuff she said I did to save animals in this state. It was a nice compliment from her but I dont want to give my dogs bones from the buther. I do buy those cooked knucklbones from Tractor supply. They are hard round bones with some cooked meat stuck on it. They never splinter and they gnaw the hell out of them. I have read somewhere that those arent good to give to your dogs either. They sell rib bones at dollar general for $2. How about rawhide chews? I heard those are bad too but dang my dogs go ape shit over rawhide chews.
TweetI couldn't give me pits rawhide they would maul it so quickly that they end up trying to swallow the semi soggy leather lol. After seeing my game dog choke half to death I decided he wasn't responsible enough of an Easter to have them...they need things to chew on but u have to be selective on toys just like bones. It has to be nearly indestructible for pits and then it's only gonna last 2 weeks tops Hahaha in not kidding. Be careful of any toy that could pose choke hazard if torn apart.

Tweeti give mine kong toys and chew toys from kong. they are damn near indestructable and i have never had any issues with them. my bullie destroys everything point blank period. he can shred a softball in a couple of minutes and he hasnt been able to wreck any of those chew toys from kong

Tweetnever leave her alone with something to chew on. if she chews on something and chokes on it whos there to help her?
TweetGreat advice, and glad you mentioned this. We have to look after pups like children, and pitbulls puppies are like twin toddlers on caffeine with needle teeth lol. Choking on toys is a real hazard with a pup that likes to seek and destroy EVERYTHING. These are hearty dogs and good bred ones can pull through stuff that would kill most dogs. My sorrell pup got bit in the mouth by a pigmy rattle snake while I was flounder gigging at night. I came home to his mouth and neck being swole up like a football. Took him to vet 2 hours away and they shot him some sorta stuff and bingo that fool was back from death bed by morning.

Tweeti dont leave toys out in the room if my dogs arent in the crate and if they are in the crate i dont leave anything in there beside a blanket. blueedge is right these dogs will do things you wouldnt think a dog could do.
one of my dogs wasnt so lucky she killed a coral snake but it killed her. came home one sat and found her dead in the back yard on her chain..wish i knew the snake was back there i would have killed it or took her to the vet.
