TweetAny name yet? She is a real gem...Gemma
Veritas Vos Liberabit
TweetI like Gemma. It looks like the name Pickles is sticking so far. She answers to Pickles, but we call her Honey too.
TweetIm getting used to it. She responds to it and theyve been calling her that at the rescue so it would prob be best to stay what is already in her brain. Pickles. Its funny, but I went into the shelter and went facebook live from inside her cage. Then someone at the shelter saw it on facebook and told an employee "hey he cant be videotaping inside of a cage!" hahaha...I was actuall trying to get her adopted into a good home until someone talked me into keeping her. Best decision ever. I have zero regrets. This dog is as amazing as the foster family said
Tweetshes a pretty red nose.. she's chilled laying with the other dogs.
TweetIs she a red nose pit? I dont know that much about pits. Someone else said she is a red nose and I looked it up and it says they sell for thousand$ of dollars. If thats true, then this is crazy. I got this puppy for a $200 adoption fee
TweetQuick lesson on pitbull bloodlines and color. A red nose dog only is a description of its color and nose. It is not a blood line. Bloodlines generally establish the high price of a dog. Generally because the dogs in a bloodline have been shown, fought or competed in weight pulls and come with a high pedigree registered with AKC, UKC and ADBA. The quality and price of dogs follow that order, akc most valuable and reputable, UKC 2nd, adba 3rd. As far as color alone making a dog valuable, the most valuable and rare color is yellow. Both mom and dad have to carry the yellow gene BUT that doesnt mean the 2 dogs will ever have a yellow pup. I live the red colored dogs, I once seen a red on red brindle that was amazingly beautiful, but color of nose and coat generally dont add value alone. A quality looking pit like u have is worth between 200-500$ generally so u made a good purchase and have a fine dog there.

Tweetblueedge summed it up. just because she has a red nose doesnt make her a high dollar pup who she was bred from or who is in her blood line makes her valuable. AKC and UKC dont recognize the AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER they recognize the staffordshire terrier. you have to do some digging into the pit bulls history and you will learn alot.
i dont and wont buy a dog because of the color of her or his fur i buy them because how she or he was bred.
Tweetman i agree but damn if i dont love the look of a red and rust dobe. that and i will never ever own a pure breed white dog ever again

Tweetguns what happened to the pure white dog?
there is so much that goes into breeding it will make peoples head spin.. yea if you in bred for a certain you have to be careful bc the bad things from them is also more prone to happen..
Tweeti got me a pure breed bull terrier from the number 2 breeder in the country. champion blood line the whole 9 yards. well since he is white he is allergic to everything under the sun and then some. so come to find out, it happens in the majority of white dogs. so no more white dogs for me. i could have made a ton off of studding him out but i didnt want to put the allergy back into the bloods. so i havent and wont breed him

TweetMuch respect for doing the right thing!
Am Staffs/pitbulls are supposed to be super healthy resilient dogs. But current trends towards bully breed type pits and exotic pocket pits are breeding the health clean out of these dogs. A good game bred pitbull or amstaff should live 15+ years, the new Bully style live 8 to 12 and the exotic pits live 4 to 6...!! Wtf I dont care how visually impressive a dog is, if u breed the life span right out of a dog, then you bred a crap ass dog. Sadly 95% of pit owners are not passionate enough to care about the dogs rich genetic history, having an impressive looking specimen had taken presidents over having a healthy life companion.

TweetAnother note worthy characteristic of pitbulls, dominantly white dogs are BAD u cant register them due to the fact their plagued with genetic flaws one of the biggest being skin allergies. Due to back yard breedings many pits have skin allergies now, not just dominantly white dogs. 9 times out of 10 its CORN in their food. These gods can NOT have corn based feed. They need high quality meat based balanced diet. Thankfully many dog food makers now have some quality food. The big names pedigree ect are the worst offenders for selling crap food.
If your new pup scratches a lot, start a to get bumps on skin and or rubs hair off part of body from itching.. it is very likely she has allergies. Look for hidden corn in the ingredients of food. No corn gluten or any high fructose corn syrup ect.. your pup probably won't have any problems, but the allergies can cost u a ton of money at vet if you dont know changing food can fix the issue.

Tweetso true with people breeding the hell out of these dogs just to make money and not culling or not breeding the ones with faults...
