I just bought 15 pieces of lumber. It is not small. 16 feet long, 14 inches wide, and 5/8 thick. It is all rough cut red oak. My truck could not hold any more. Got it all for 40$. I just got through making a bar out of rough cut with a brass metal top on casters. I sold it for 300$ it was friggin beautiful.
Not sure what I will make out of this.

I wish I could edit. It sounded like the bar top on casters. No the whole bar was on casters with 1 set locking casters

cool man. oak is great looking wood. Heavy as hell and really hard on saw blades but strong and durable. I used to be a carpenter and enjoyed working maple or poplar as it was easy to work with but lacked oak's character. That is a good deal on that lumber.

      We need pics brother.

The bar will be used in a converted hay barn to use as a marriage chapel.
Cedar trees when they got like 3 or 4 inches around we used them for fence post. They last forever

Cedar trees mess me up come winter when they pollinate. Texas is ate up with em. Especially in the hill country around austin (which is where i would live if I could) I say kill em all.

I made my wife an oak jewelry box once with a piece of cedar from a cigar box at the bottom then covered it in velvet so you get the smell but it is soft. I will have to take a pic of it. It is pretty simple but very pretty and is 22 years old and still looks like the day I made it.

I would take pieces of oak from pallets. Plane them out (i worked in a cabinet shop) cut them up so there were no nail holes. True them with a table saw and glue and clamp them to make sheets of oak. That is what I made the box out of.

I would like to make a bar like that for my back yard. Have a mini fridge inside it. That would be a fun project but I am still doing the remodel of our house. (NIGHTMARE!)

For outside I would consider cedar for sure. Looks great and last. It will help keep the mosquitoes away.
I bet that jewlery box looks good
