Tweetoh hell no. i dont do snakes. they are the only thing on the planet i am absolutely deathly scared of. i have tons of snake stories. i have had my grand father shoot a copper head from between my legs in the woods. i have went to the front of a column that had halted on a range to see what the hell they were doing. only to walk to the end of the trail and hear a whisper to look down. inches from my foot was a timber rattler that was about 6ft long and as big around as my arm. i bet you i ran 50mph back down the trail. i also had a fellow sqt get bitten by a side winder out in 29 palms. we had all bedded down for the night only to be rousted up by a blood curling scream with that dude running around like a mad man. it had bit him on the side of the neck. they tried to calm him down for the med chopper to come pick him up. well it broke down on the way out and had to land. then they tried to ground evac him and they broke down. funny part of the story was it didnt get him with any venom at all but hearing him tell the story about how he almost died but didnt and how bad his luck was, was priceless.

TweetKilled a snake in my yard in San Diego that big ; now you will be dealing with the babies for a couple of years. Look out!!
TweetI don't have issues like guns has with them but I don't care for them.. I walk away go get something to kill them if they are still there when I get back they are dead.. I killed a very big rattle snake years ago down the street from my old house where I used to walk the dogs.. don't care for them but don't get to freaked out about them..
my dad on the other hand will pick one up like its no issue at all. I remember watching him when I was growing up grab up rattle snakes cotton mouths anything didn't brother him at all. don't know if got that way being in Vietnam in the 101st or growing up in Mississippi..
my brother is like guns.. if there was a snake around my brother would find it and more then likely he stepped on it..i remember my brother was taking out the trash one night and stepped on a snake and ran inside the house while I went out to kill it looking out the door to make sure I killed it..
Tweeti personally like snakes so my worst snake story is when my python died.
sorry about your loss.. how long do they live? I could someone felling this way to them its a part of the family...
TweetHoly crap.Is there a way to keep them away ...gawdang...I like being out here in the country where its peaceful and I can walk amongst the trees and now I gotta carry an ax around to hack up snakes. Crap
TweetI used to be pretty much terrified of snakes but once I started working the land and becoming a part time farmer I had absolutely no choice but to get over it. I have called snake handlers to come out one time when I saw A rattlesnake, about 10 people came out and scoured my property looking for snakes and never saw it again. This time I called someone to come out again and finally I realized I couldnt wait any longer and I needed to get aggressive with a garden hoe and chop the shit out of it. I psyched up and started swinging. My first swing I totally missed and hit the ground. I nailed him on my second swing. It was surprisingly easy to kill. I chopped it into 3 pieces and it was over
TweetI picked up a piece of plywood once at my uncles lake house. it was squishy and wiggley underneath. I flipped it and the reason it was squishy was because i had inadvertently grabbed a 18" copperhead who was under the edge of the wood.
How it did not bit me I will never know because I saw it flailing around as i flipped the wood and it did not dawn on my it was a snake until i pushed the wood over.
TweetI don't really have a specific snake story that's more scary than any other, but down here in my neck of the woods there's no mistaking the sound of a rattlesnake. If you're out walking around on the land and hear that sound, it'll definitely make the hair on your neck stand up.
TweetCotton mouths I use to shoot with the 410 when I was 8-9 ! No problem!
At the age of 30..Years ago! I had a black racer run up my pant leg.....while weed eating a back yard! I saw it...it saw me...it ran straight for me..i couldn't get the weed eater around fast enough..that mother ****** no fear ran up my jeans! I hate snakes!
Everything I say is Roll Play!
Tweeti would have shit my pants had a heart attack and fell over dead on the spot. i had one bounce out on me in a ditch weed eating myself he didnt run up on me though but you can bet your ass i come out of that ditch and rolled out with a quickness. same as you i hate the fuckers

TweetTotally love your real life stories BUT I am calling BS that any snake you have ever seen has been 23" around or over. Your arm is of EPIC size. Love you!
TweetGood for you! Just kill them, you will become an expert. I had my son Billy-Bob kill his first at 7 years old. Now I am dealing with a Scorpion deluge.
