TweetWould you ever get one of these tests done? If not, why not?
What about that one that gives you a health screening? Is it helpful to know that information or is it going to make you paranoid?

TweetMy wife has been begging to get one done so next mth I'm gonna get this done for her and I'll be happy to post it up here big D
TweetI won't be doing it. Call it paranoia, but I just don't trust that. I can certainly see the benefits of it. A good friend of mine was adopted when he was a baby and has very little information on his heredity. For me though, I just couldn't do it. Too paranoid. I know anyone can find anything given enough time and the right resources, but who knows how they are collecting / utilizing that data from people.

Tweetas of now no i wont. why, because i really dont care to know. however if my dna profile would benefit me some how i might. curiosity alone is not enough
TweetI will not do a test, EVER! The FBI has picked up my trash for 20 years, they have my DNA. If the reason for doing this is to seek out some distant relatives I don't know.
#1 I have trouble dealing with my relatives I do know
#2 NOT inviting extra Sucubus into my life.
Tweetthe mormon church or one of the huge church organizations has been compiling data on people for years. do some digging on the subject because they are behind a lot of these companies for some reason. that and what trix said, i think it has the chance of being a ploy for them to get and have even more info on you.

TweetI am adopted, I have no knowledge of my family history. As for the gov taking DNA tests and banking the info. It is plausible. they already record everything we do illegally. why not make an illegal seizure of our DNA as well?
there is also 23 and me which is far more in depth. It is more for your health and less for a family tree kind of thing.
TweetThat is what they CLAIM, how TRUE is that?? There are a lot of lonely old people out there and a lot of people who have have alienated their relatives who are looking for someone else to lean on. Sorry, I think this is the new scheme.
TweetI had thought about it one time but decided against it. You can still do a lot of research, and find out about your family history, without putting any of you personal info out there.
Veritas Vos Liberabit
TweetIm tempted to do the DNA test but maybe I shouldnt.
TweetI had 1 done just for the amusement factor. Not entirely accurate if you ask me
TweetThere have been studies done, some are in YT, where they test a few ppl and use all the different labs and each one has info way different than each other.
One lady was told she was something like half indian then another lab would say she's got Germanic blood, no indian and a mishmash of other ethnicities. It's all part of a plan if you ask me for the gov to keep tabs on your personal info...they could care less what makes you ethnically.

TweetOf course, you probably have friends that are more logical thinkers like you.
TweetI agree with you Trixie. genealogy is not a map you can read. I did some research and people have become so diverse in 200 years that having a definitive family tree is NUTS.
Now for me just finding 1/2 brothers and sisters it is more viable, BUT I still think the gov could put their dirty gov fingers in it.
