I don't understand the level of attachment some people have with their pets. Am I the odd ball here? I mean, I got a buddy, him and his wife have dumped over 10k in a mutt dog they rescued from the pound. They have a nice house and as soon as you walk in you get blasted with the smell of dog. They treat this thing like its a human. I had them over for new years and his wife wanted to leave to be home to watch the ball drop with the dog because she told the dog they'd be home before midnight... wtf?? lol I grew up with pets. My ex-wife and I had a dog, but it was longhaired...didn't shed.. IDK... I think animals are meant to live outdoors...

Man I love my dog. but my house does not smell like dog. that is an ender for me. I will not own a dog that pees or craps inside no matter how much I care for them. My dog is a pal but I ain't spedning $10K on him. But I would jump on a pitbull if it attacked him.

I guess I am in the middle.

their dog is definitely well mannered. Its potty trained, rings a bell to go outside. And the house is always clean. It just that, you know a dog lives here smell, if you know what I mean. The thing tore both ACL's. And the surgery on the first one wasn't done correctly so they had to have it done second time.

Pets give unconditional love and do not share your secrets. They also can teach one a whole lot.

I can't say I agree. I know of a family that had a border collie for 4 or 5 years...they had one 2 small children, one day the dog attacked and killed their little girl. They never had an issue with the dog before the attack.
