Seriously, thats the best way in thelong run. I actually stopped taking my dog topuppy class partly because it was 40 miles away of a straight stretch of highway that Ive cruised up to 105 mph and it felt like I was going 55. I dont even know If I could drivethe speedlimit there, Ive never tried lol

I believe the 9500IX was the top of the line for Passport a few years back, but apparently the Redline is their flagship now. One thing I can say is I have never wished mine was more sensitive. Honestly, I can't imagine what more sensitivity would do other than alert you way too early and cause more false alerts. Regardless, I'm sure the Redline is a great detector, but just wanted to let you know that if you don't want to spend the extra money you will be fine with the 9500IX. I don't know if mine has the feature that prevents it from being detected though, but it's not a problem where I live since they are legal. At night though, I do like to turn off the display and use the battery charger interface control (pretty cool option), so that if a cop is behind me he doesn't see that I have a detector. I tend to worry that if a cop sees the detector he might want to pull me over even for a few mph over the limit just because I have one.

Passport is one of the best in the business so you'll be fine with whichever option you choose. I've used mine every day for a few years, and probably drove about 200k miles with it, and never a single issue with the detector itself. The only complaint I had was the suction cup started failing, so I ordered an aftermarket one with 3 suction cups and haven't had any issues since. The one I ordered is on Amazon, the Belltronics and Escort Radar Detectors Windshield Bracket Mount with 3 suction cups. It cost $12.95.

      Happy shopping!

Yep the price tag is pretty high, but I've had mine for years and it's paid for itself over and over again. Not so much that I'm purposely speeding, but when it goes off and I realize I'm going just fast enough to probably get a ticket.

Like JsJs24 said though, it's crazy sensitive. Almost to the point of being annoying if I'm driving downtown or something. You can set it up and adjust it a bit to your preferences. There are a ton of youtube tutorials on it. Another great thing is it'll pick up radar from speed limit signs as well. (The signs that actually show your speed) You'll start noticing which radar bands are most commonly used in the areas you drive too. For example, in my area, regardless if I'm downtown or on an open road, if it alerts a KA Band... I slow down lol.

Also, the little suction cups it comes with are horrible. It'll bounce all over the place when you're driving. I went on Amazon and got the Escort Sticky Cup. It's one huge suction cup that won't budge.

the last 2 times I got a speeding ticket one was from a laser that I went to court over and told the judge my speedo was off and I had it re-calibrated and it worked she with held the points and dropped the fine down to 100.00.. she was nice..

the last speeding ticket I got hurt and hurt bad it was on 75 in GA going thru Atlanta I was going 85 and didn't know the speed limit dropped down to 55 thru down town Atlanta and got me a huge speeding ticket that one cost me $728.00 yes you seen that right $728.00.. I thought about not paying it since I don't go to GA very often but the more I thought about it and the way states share info I didn't want to get pulled over for something dumb in my home town and then find out I have a warrant out for me in GA and sit in jail all weekend to find out GA donest want me because its just a speeding ticket so I went ahead and paid it...wish I had a radar then.. the next time I went out of town I just flew that was cheaper then that speeding ticket plus the travel cost..

SPEND THE MONEY! Either that or the Valentine but the passport has many advantages i like.

It gas a GPS system and knows when your approaching red light or speed cameras. It also can detect false signals and if lets say you drive to work the same day everyday and there 2 false signals, it will detect them and eventually it will save them and will no longer beep when you drive by them.

This radar detector has saved me thousands, I have 11 speeding tickets. i should have spent the money on one of these a long time ago. I haven't gotten a single ticket since i bought this radar.

One thing to remember is the detector is technology so it can sometimes not work properly. its important to look at your detector as a teammate. Be vigilant and listen to its warnings and you'll be fine. Its a team effort.
I never meant to be better than anyone, I was just born that way. Its hard being a god amongst peasants!

I had many versions of escort/passport and always had one until laser got very prevalent. Now I keep it at no more than +8.

Long story short, while I was getting a speeding ticket one time I got the cop to let me try his laser gun....like shooting a rifle..aim at a reflective part of the car, pull the trigger and instant speed and distance read and super long range..

The rest of that story.....I was in a school zone littered with kids going my 15mph and some jagoff is tailgating me and then passes me in the zone and cuts me off. Now I am Frickin wild!! End of school zone up a hill I pass this bastard and cut him off just as I crest the hill and see the cop at the bottom. Cop hits the rollers and I pull down in the ditch next to him. He doesn't have to even start his car for this stop. He walks up and tells me he got me at +22mph. So....I tell him the rest of the story in animated detail and have him laughing by the end. I asked him what he used to clock me and he says "new laser gun" and follows with "wanna see it?" We go back to his squad and he shows me how to use it and his k-band gun too. So I get to play with these two toys while he writes my ticket. I put all his stuff back and he hands me a ticket for +9mph.

Oh yeah it all depends on where u live. Most rural area still don't even have the higher end radars they use old tech that use k band. Most places now use better tech that uses ka bands. But more populated and areas with more money have laser. I'll tell you if your driving and your radar says laser it's already to late. But I've gotten lucky and had the laser warning go off only 3 times and it was the car next to me or in front of me. I was able to slow down enough when he actually lasered me I wasn't speeding. Call that one luck lol.

Yep I've had that happen to me to. I'm not an expert, but I've heard the laser can bounce of other cars, so if they hit the car next to you, or in front of you, it may pick it up and alert even though he didn't lock on to you yet. Although, if you're the only car around, probably not lol.

That is correct about lasers. They are line of sight, so it's reflecting off of something else if you pick it up.
