TweetSynthetic Mobil 1 for 15 years
Tweetdo you change yourself or have it done.
conventional or synthetic?
Do you push your vehicle or is it normal transport? (race, offroad, ect)
I run synthetic and change myself. I have a jeep wrangler and offroad it. High engine temps due to big loads and slow speeds. i change myself as I had heard of guys wanting syn oil and getting regular.
TweetSynthetic Mobil 1 for 15 years
Tweetmy 16 year old truck gets the mix blend high mileage stuff. used to get full synthetic always but its slowly dying now the 50/50 is fine.
lexus gets synthetic and my 22 year old beater is lucky to get any oil at all..
TweetI use EVOO !!!
Tweetfor my beater I may but for 20 bucks and they recycle the oil its usually a go to. as far as my other cars yup usually take it in for changes. its mostly due to having to get rid of the oil myself. less and less people take it for free now.
TweetI used Castrol SynTec on my Ranger and it was pretty easy for me to change it myself. My F-150 holds a lil over 7qt's which has a trough drainage, which is kinda' pain in the ass for me. It came with Valvoline synthetic. Nice not having to change the synthetic as often...,kinda' spendy at around $100. A lotta people are liking the Mobil so I might give that a try sometime.

Tweetno need to change. mobil 1 is good but valvoline syn is on par and you can get it cheaper normally.
TweetMobil 1 synthetic on my new car. I do a lot of highway driving at the moment and change it once every 10,000 miles. Never had anyone change my oil for me until i got this new car. Now i bring it to the dealer and pleased with their work.
Tweetpeople do not understand, miles on a car are not equal. city driving breaks down oil fast with the frequent heat cycles and also every time you go off throttle it pulls unburned or partially burned fuel molecules, other gasses and carbon back into the motor. ever smell your oil when you change it? smells like gasoline (not in a diesel) gas is a solvent and slowly breaks down oil. highway driving keeps engine vacuum more constant therefor mitigating exhaust gasses from being recirculated in your motor. this allows your engine oil service life to extend. a taxi would do best with conventional oil changed every 3K miles where as you and your situation are doing it right.
wow i just geeked out on oil.
TweetYes you did, very well done jipped ! A smiley face sticker for you ! Serious that was really helpful thank's.

Tweetthanks brother. I actually went to school to be a mechanic and did it for years. I love the technical aspects of the internal combustion engine but hated doing brakes on a 1989 ford tempo over and over.
