3 secrets therapists want you to know about stress

Sometimes we lose sight of what’s important by placing work ahead of everything else in our lives. While we need to make money to survive, do we really need to operate at breakneck speed to live an honest life?

Here are three tips therapists want you to know about deflating the stress bubble next time your life starts ballooning out of control.

      1. Laugh!

Imagine being in a hardcore argument with someone when all of a sudden, you both pause for a second, look at each other, and burst into laughter. Can you see how much tension this single action would dissolve? You would likely be able to finish your heated discussion in a much less antagonistic fashion.

Laughter has endless healing powers. When you start to feel yourself spinning out of control or getting frustrated with the task at hand, find something to laugh about — even if it means forcing it. Sometimes the sheer sound of forced laughter will give you something to really laugh about.

      1. Don’t bite off more than you can chew.

Ask yourself: am I constantly taking on more than I can handle? Living in a world of constant, extreme stress on the regular is a sign that there is something you need to readjust. While there are always situations outside of your control, try and work out options that allow you to function within your range of comfortable abilities when you can. Rather than trying to be a superhuman 100 percent of the time, remember that the more time you take to recharge your batteries, the better you’ll be at your job.

      1. Focus on what you’re grateful for.

Re-focusing your attention to what truly matters to you will help shift your mind from looking for things that preoccupy your mind and stress you out to what you are grateful for. Often, these extremely simple things, like family, or a warm home, are things we take for granted the most. Remember to take time to think about all of the little, or big, things that make you feel thankful to be alive.

Learn how to achieve greatness using abilities you already have

Feel empowered? Good – you should. Rodney Eiland asserts that his “belief is that we all have the ability to do something great”. He’s right – we do.
Chronicling his life, Eiland explains how he was raised in a loving and supportive family. He discusses the dynamic of growing up in a “pretty smart family” with a wide ancestral background, from Indigenous heritage to German heritage. Eiland touches on this history because he wants to highlight the fact that he does not believe he is the smartest person in his family. Not the smartest, not the most cultured, not necessarily the most successful – but he never cared about any of this. Eiland never let potential limitations hold him back from becoming somebody who could do something great. He knew he had the ability – so he turned a blind eye to his perceived shortfalls, including slight ADHD, and just pushed forward in life. He took risks and looked for his own success by allowing his blind ambition lead him forward. Guess what? He found it.

Just out of high school, Eiland began to sell insurance. He sold insurance for “about six months” before deciding to open his own business. Using some of the money he had saved and borrowing some money from his parents, Eiland opened his own business in the automotive accessories business. “Basically, a glass selling business is really what it was”. Yet – Eiland pushed forward, and his belief that he could do something great has led him to become very successful today. When he first opened his business, Eiland was his only employee – and he claims that “he didn’t know what in the world he was doing”. Not knowing what he was doing didn’t hold Eiland back. He allowed his ambition to lead him, he allowed “some great leaders” and “some great mentors”to lead him. His point with this story is that “it doesn’t matter where we start, it matters where we finish”.
It doesn’t matter where we start, it matters where we finish.

In working hard and believing in himself rather than perceived shortfalls, Eiland was able to eventually grow “that businesses over twenty years into one of the larger companies in the Houston area”. He buckled up and went to work – regardless of the difficulty. He said he “learned a lot along the way. [He] learned about customer service, [he] learned about sales, [he] learned about helping other people learn those things”. Eiland became somebody who didn’t look back – but rather, he looked forward. “My belief is that we all have the ability to do something great. And I know this for a fact because if I can do it – so can you.” He believed in himself and his ability to do something great, and it led him to do something great. As Eiland said, “it doesn’t matter where we start, it matters where we finish”. Believe you can and you will.
If I can do it, so can you.

3 ways you can break out of your insecurities to become a success

“The price of success is much lower than the price of failure.” -Zig Ziglar

You can sometimes look at someone and just know they are a success. They exude confidence and have a high self-esteem. However, their success is attributed to this confidence. Knowing and acting like they can succeed will breed success. These three ideas will help you achieve that level of confidence that gives you that extra push to love yourself and think only the best.

      Take these into consideration:

      1) Doubt

Having doubts can only bring more doubts. If you are struggling to believe in yourself, how can you expect anyone else to believe in you? Trust in the preparation for the plans you have made. By having faith in all of the work you have put in, the results will come. By believing in this, you can bring yourself out of a slump of self-doubts.

      2) Confidence

You need confidence to allow yourself to be challenged. Every day when you start something new, you are exuding confidence and bravery. If you only stay in your comfort zone, you become complacent with what you think about and what you are exposed to. You become more fearful and insecure. When you are stuck in what you think is “safe,” you find yourself in dead-end jobs and don’t take on opportunities that come your way.
      report this ad
      3) Focus

Have you ever head of the phrase “focus on what you can control?” The most confident people exclusively focus on their own circumstances, and make the best out of them. They aren’t deterred by the factors that are out of their control, and block out any obstacles or distractions that would prevent them from reaching their goals. If you aren’t confident, you will be impacted by the uncontrollable. Focus on what you can control and let the rest go.

      ZIGLAR VAULT
I saw Zig twice. One time I ran to the corner of the stage as he was walking off and shook his hand and said thanks and that I was huge fan and had listened to his tapes for hours and hours. He said "Thank you" That was it, I didnt know what else to say. He probably heard that a lot. So few Americans left like Zig. That way of thinking is sadly being replaced with god knows what

So true. I have found that the way I start the day sets the tone for the whole day. This morning before we started, we watched a Napoleon Hill video, which are incredible. Each lesson is only a few minutes so they are perfect for watching at work with everyone. It was a great day. Then the day ended with me finding out that a comapny I contract with just pulled the $1000 a month raise they promised me last month. I was on cloud nine when they told me last month. I felt like all this hard work and getting up at 5 and being there at 6 am was finally paying off with thsi increase in pay which is long overdo. I have given this comapny way way way more than what they are paying me for. I have never complained. I just go in there and bust my ass and go home. Then at the end of the day I get the email telling me, we regret that we cant afford the increase that we promised you last month. Ugh. I swear, it felt like being kicked in the stomach. I told my manager about it and I was so down. Then she said "Remember that video we watched this morning? Lets keep focused on where we are heading. She reminded of the huge goals we have and that we need to just relax and know that we are going to get there and this wont matter.

Well, it still hurts. lol But honestly, we cant really afford the luxury of a single negative thought.
