TweetMy son just bought me a M&P 9 Shield, super light and great for my purse. I'll take her out next week and get acquainted. Feel like I'm cheating on my LADY S&W.

TweetI just put together the AR below:
223 Wylde Chamber
Wilson Combat 18 inch match stainless bull barrel with 1 1 in 8 twist
Aderson Upper/Lower Reciever
Timney 3 lb single stage trigger
Midwest Industries 12 inch free-float handguard
Burris scope mount with Vortex Viper 6.5x20x44
Nikel Teflon BCG by Sionics Weapons Systems - next time, I'd just go with a black nitride bcg
Currently working on a 6.5 grendel ar15 platform for more long distance work. It will have many of the same components except I got the 6.5 grendel II (.136 heasspaced) bolt and an 18 inch stainless bull barrel with 1 in 8 twist from x-caliber. It will have the Vortex HST optics along with an 45 degree rear slant mount and vortex venom 3moa red dot....that last one is just for fun:-)
Stacker...
Tweet....forgot, the 6.5 grendel will have a Warne 20 moa canted mount so I have enough elevation to run it to 1000 yards without having to hold over.
Stacker...
TweetWould love to do this. Can you tell us where to acquire the knowledge to be able to build an AR.
The Best Thing About TRT Is The Cycle Never Ends.
Tweetman you can learn to put together and do damn near anything on youtube. the only thing that is super challenging is putting the trigger mech together. i went to school to do it and you know i shake like a cat shitting razor blades. i am still able to do it though. i have always told people that are building or taking apart to clean to buy extra springs and pins. i have lost more than one haha. if you make friends with an armorer they will normally watch you do it a few times till you get the hang of it as well.

TweetI've gained most of my knowledge from the local gunsmith in my area along with some of the real die hard guys from the range that shoot F class. My gunsmith is an awesome guy and likes to just shoot the shit and talk guns. Like guns01 said, youtube really is a great resource, but there are things that can be confusing and dangerous if you don't have a complete understanding of certain particulars. For example, I'm putting togther most of my 6.5 grendel build, but my gunsmith is going to help me with the barrel assembly on this particular rifle...there's some things with this particular caliber that are tricky, the type I head spacing vs type II, or (.125 vs .136)...there's a lot of history on this to read up on...and depending how you screw it up, placing a type I bolt into a type II barrel or a type II bolt into a type I barrel can lead to a gun that either won't completely feed which would be the least of your worries as opposed to the other scenario in which there's too much spacing because the bolt face is set too far back causing it to turn into a bomb in your hand due to the round not completely seating into the chamber properly..ie, the pressure coming back into the upper receiver and....kaboom. So I plan on putting in quite a bit of time into this area before I'll have the nerve to do a complete build on my own.
TweetSome goid insight here. I'm planning an AR 15 build (5.56) in the very near future and am happy to read up on what others are doing!
In the past year I picked up a S&W 686 .357Mag with 6" barrel - that thing is a blast to shoot. And a Ruger SR1911 .45 ACP. I don't shoot either one very well yet, but the .45 less so. Gonna take a few shooting lessons and get a little coaching on what I'm not doing right, etc.
It SURE is fun, though!
TweetSmart to get training. I have been going in spurts of 3-4 classes every year for 15 years. I shoot WAYYYYYYYYYY better than when I was self taught. Check out force on force training with sims. It is as close to real combat as you can get without getting bullet holes. (the sims sting like bee stings) My brother and I used to go to patriot for sim training and would gunfight each other. he killed me 8 times out of 10.
I just bought new optics for my AR from primary arms. 1/2 off blem sale. got the cowitness mount for it.
check out CDNN for ar parts. they have some good sales
