TweetA jury has ruled against a woman from New York after she tried to sue her own nephew for hugging her too hard.
Jennifer Connell claimed that the boy, Sean Tarala was overtly aggressive when he leapt in to her arms on his eighth birthday. He was quite clearly overwhelmed with joy to see her, however she fell to the ground and broke her wrist as a consequence.
In court she said she remembered him shouting “Auntie Jen I love you, and there he was flying at me”. She was hoping to seek $127,000 in damages from her nephew.
A human resources manager was trying to claim that the injury she had sustained was having a hugely negative impact on her life.
I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up so it has been very difficult,” she said. “And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan.”
She also tried to claim that her social life had suffered.
“I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate,” she said.
In the end the court however, did not believe that an elementary school student should have to pay the equivalent of his future college tuition to the injured aunt. They ruled that he was not liable for the accident. I doubt she will be getting an invite to anymore birthday party’s any time soon.

TweetWhat a jerk. Hope her nephew never talks to her again.

Tweet" it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate,” what a pretentious *****
her thanksgiving and xmas dinner dates just opened up
TweetI was just thinking the same thing.. But the amount of money she wanted to sue her little nephew for was just utterly stupid... I love it when my little neices and nephiews are happy to see me and they wanna jump on me and hug me.. Of course they can't because my daughter the body guard makes sure they don't .. But she should be grateful ..
TweetI could even see asking the parents to pay her insurance deductible if it really is documented that it was caused by this incident.
TweetWTF...what do you even begin to say about something like this.
