Man that sucks. I know that would have to be hard, even if it was their first day on the job much less 6 years. I know it would bother me, but you have to do what you have to do sometimes bro.

Update on the story. It has turned out so good. So, the girl I had to fire is 27 years old, unreal physical beauty , humble demeanor, quiet lives at home with her mom and dad, She seems to have men falling at her feet but she shuns them and says she is committed to God and family. At work she Seemed to do just barely enough to get by and keep things running . She even admitted to at times being totally distracted by events in her personal life, She is a good person and so tonight, I left her $100 and note and said hope it helps you a little at this time. Itexted her and told her it was there, I said That Im here for her any time she needs me. She texted back thank you and that she was in church worshiping god. Thats nice. She is a good girl. Young and seeking guidance. Maybe immaturity? maybe so. I hope she gets inspired like the girl who replaced her. So I think I did everything I could do as a boss to help make it easy for her. She is most definitely wondering how I would ever be able to figure out all the details of her job without her showing me or someone.. But, she probably doesnt know that she got replaced by a woman twice her age with drive and energy unseen before , who refuses to give up. Im not going to lie, It was very scary to cut all ties to the former employee. It was almost like she had me by the nuts and knew it. But little did I know that an all pro caliber person was ready to step in and shake up the world.

It is just incredible how this new girl appeared out of nowhere. Last monday, there I was, wondering what the hell I was going to do, a girl walks into my office with her resume and it turns out she worked for me many years back. I said step in and see what you can do in 2 hours and we will see if I should hire you. Well in the course of only 5 days she turned a part time, 20 hour a week job into a 40 hour a week job through sheer grit and determination. That woman works non stop from the minute she walks in the door to the minute she walks out. Microwaves her lunch and eats at her desk so she can keep working. She is much older and has a 5 year old adopted son and a husband ...Yes, she has things soaring and we are breaking records in her first week on the job. ...It is unbelievable what new energy can bring and a woman with absolute integrity and will power to work on anything until it is done. I remember her. She was the first employee I ever hired. She was incredible then. She is the real deal. I dont quite remember why she left, she claims I fired her. lol I probably did, I was young and was always out chasing women when I wasnt at work, and made some dreadful mistakes in business.Firing her would have been one of them lol

Any way, The new girl said to me on her second day on the job "I hope you can handle it because I am going to double and triple your business. You had better be ready!" I was impressed with such bravado. She is a very humble looking girl. Almost grandmotherly looking. Plain looking, not ugly, but not someone who guys are going to look at. I dont mean that in a bad way. But she has a charisma about her ...Just enormous energy. Working, with sweat dripping down her face. Literally. I already bonused her an amount that I havent paid out in months. In her first week on the job!!! There is no task that that woman cant handle with enthusiasm. wow. I cant even tell you what it is like to have someone like her. This girl stepped up to the plate and knocked the ball into the upper deck with her first swing of the bat. Crack! Home run!. Just grateful, thats all I can do

no way man. you just have to make sure you make friends with people that understand that business is always business and outside of business you can be cool. i had no issues with being really close friends with my superiors in the military. when i dicked the dog i paid the piper no questions asked. i am still really close friends with a few that crushed my nuts to the max a few times. today's generation have a hard time telling the difference between something being personal and something being professional. if you work for me and you mess up even though you are a good friend of mine, i am still going to hold you to the exact same standard as everyone else

Yeah bro, I have quite a few people that I pull that off with no prob. I took a close friend to work 2nd in command under me. He is ex-military and we have no issues separating work and personal stuff. People have real problem taking orders nowadays. A lot of them don't want to get told what to do, but don't want to take on the responsibility...lol..I don't get it.
Just in my company there a lot of younger males so everyone becomes friends and guys distract eachother.

The girl who I had to fire is really a good person, just young and she knows now that she really screwed up big time. I missed her bad today even though I had the new girl working. It feels really sad.

bro you did the right thing.. I still would feel bad but they made you do this..I would feel worse if I had to let someone go who was a hard worker but things got tight so I had to lay them off.. I have a 20 something young man working for me for a year and he hasn't gotten it. I have had several talks with him about it and he still messes up.. comes in at 8:05 or so and man he is slow and forgets things all the time..the young man just needs to step up.. I have offered him over time several times but he cant or doesn't want to come in before 8.. I have gotten on him several times about running the ups report every night and he still doesn't do it.. so I have no proof ups picked up packages from my shop.. my opinion he's a mommy's boy..

I appreciate that. You know exactly what it was like for me. That kid just defying you like that. So frustrating when you give someone something to do and they simply refuse to do it. Its like they are thinking fuck you Im not doing it. The simplest things, she would refuse to do.

I am paying the new girl a lot more and thats because she is working full time . She created work for herself by busting her ass non stop every day. I know I am not paying her enough right now so I am going to gradually find more things to pay her. She is bar none the best worker I have ever employed. She is in her 40s and the other girl was 20s. Humongous difference. But hard workers can come at any age, they are just hard as hell to find. When you find one, pay them enough to keep them on board!

Good luck. Hope that kid either wakes up or quits, to spareyou the aggravation. Maybe if you cut his hours he just wont show up and he will fire himself lol

As cold as it may sound. It's business.
In the sport of business cash is king.
Mistakes happen and people screw up but when it becomes a pattern and/or they start taking advantage.
You have to do what is best for the business.

When I started my business venture with my dad I sat him down and told him. I'm going into this with him because he is family and I want him to benefit from it because of how he has helped me in the past when he probably couldn't finically do so.
But any decision with business is business not personal.
An argument outside of work is personal and it will not bleed into the business and vise versa.
We are both in it for the love of what we do and the money so we get it. But we don't always see eye to eye.
Part of that means not hiring certain friends or family strictly because it's Business.

Maybe if you cut his hours he just wont show up and he will fire himself lol
he's done this to himself.. Monday I will place an ad in the paper. aug is our end of the year... I was raised if I have to do your job why do I need you?

I rarely chime in on post's outside of Aventia because in my business one must stay neutral.

If you fire someone it is not personal (morally correct) it is business. Either their quality of work is not up to par or they are losing money.

      They have become a liability.

You should not feel sorry as she did this to herself.
