Tweeti would semi have to agree. i used the soc model for a number of years myself and i have absolutely zero complaints. mags are easy to carry, it will put a target down easily and it fits my hand nicely. the only other choice i would go with if i was given the option would be a glock 21 or 21c. i used that in place of the the soc during a couple swat schools i attended and i had zero issues with it other than the grip being a little large for my hand. an instructor i worked with during one of the courses had put 100,000 rounds through his and other than oiling it had never actually cleaned his training weapon. it would stick on occasion but other than that zero stoppages or malfunctions

TweetThe 1911 is a beast. As far as a combat handgun id have to agree. It's sturdy and the round is a man stopper. I carried a glock 22 for years. Found it to be great firearm especially for room clearing and an urban environment. The .40 round is pretty good, a nice mix of stopping power with the ability to have higher capacity mags.

I have never had 1 glitch in my 1911 and shoot it better than my M&P by a small margin but 8 rounds. i would also rather shoot 9mm+P than .45.

with +p velocities over 1300fps one can get lb/ft numbers well over 400. and isnt that what we want? more transferred energy?

and still have less recoil than a standard .45.

if i was in a combat situation which i have never been and hope never to be. i would not be upset if i found myself with my trusty STI 1911 on my hip.

the downside with the +p ammo is it is brutal on the gun frame jipped. we used to put thousands of rounds through our weapons man and we would crack locking blocks on ours like it was going out of style. now if you we given a nice brand new weapon every deployment that would be great with that ammo but we never got new weapons unless we broke them. we broke the shit out the the socs as well but eh what can you do with a hot load lol

TweetI don't have any field experience just a gun enthusiast but the HK USP 45 is one hell of a gun. I believe some branches of the armed forces carried it or maybe even still do. I own one and it is my absolute fav. I would pick it over my Glock any day.

got ya. even then with the advancements in ballistics a 9mm will perform damn near as well as a .45 and with the high capacity of the 9mm i feel it is better for me. maybe if i was a more proficient shooter and my panic draw and fire target hit ratio was better i would carry a .45 because a combat handgun you do not have to worry about size.
