MARINES - My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment, Sir!
Yes, I was in the Navy. :-)
But in all seriousness, I would rather have the Marines on my side then be them an enemy I had to fight.
For my grandfather who is a WWII vet. He was a medic, combat wounded, Purple Heart. He was carrying a guy over his shoulder and was shot trough the bicep. Only had limited use of all the fingers in his left hand. I believe he was 19 when he went over. I am also grateful for the fact that two years in a row my son chose to write a report(he is only seven so it's more like a paragraph) for Veterans Day about my grandfather. When my mother read it to him last year it brought him to tears. It felt good for him to know his great grandson knew what he did and was proud enough to write about it.

For my grandfather, who has been gone for many years now. He was also a WW2 vet and almost lost both arms in a shelling in Italy. He died of Alzheimer's. Yet, as his memories were slowly peeled away from him and he slowly faded away, he also became an happier and happier man. He was always a happy, smiling, laughing Grandpa, but what I learned is that happiness and joy were his CORE personality traits. When he died, he died happier than anyone I have ever known.
a mighty circle
Today I am grateful for, Having all of you from FG in my life. You are always there for me when I need a pick me up. Like today. I am quitting drinking as of yesterday. I make bad choices when I drink alcohol. Thanks everyone.
:hammer:
Every day that I wake up. Today is a 'day of thanks" yet everyday should be. I am grateful, thankful and blessed. Grateful to be staying home with Fuzo, my daughter and the furkids. making up a big feast and then heading to a movie this evening
Glad I still have a few family left that I can go have Turkey dinner with today.
Every unanswered and answered prayer god has blessed me with because sometimes the unanswered are the most blessed.
Remember, God answers ALL prayers - just that often times the answer is NO.
