TweetTo me I think this totally abuse of power. What do you all think?
TweetUsing a choke hold that is against NYPD code that killed a guy is a abuse of power. They basically did not give a shit, like most police. Saw a big, black, "criminal" and pretty much let him die on the ground. No cpr, hell they kept the cuffs on him. But this is nothing new. Cops do this all the time and get away with it.
Tweetblack white yelllow red or brown does not matter. if you resist arrest or being detained then you are going to get man handled, it is pretty cut and dry. did they go to far? could be but then again that was a very very large man and i would have also been in a big hurry to control him and get him under control as fast as possible. not taking up for those cops but their is also a difference between a choke hold and a head lock and when someone is yelling i cant breath i cant breath, then they most certainly can breath. now if they start gurgling and gasping then you are def choking them and about 99% of the time they arent going to be yelling anything. moral of the story, if you are arrested or detained for a nonlegit reason then hire an attorney and have some new walking around funds in your pocket but fighting with the popo just makes it worse and gives them more to use on you

TweetI agree 100%
TweetWhether it was justified or not, I dont know, but The timing of this could hardly be worse. The country was already on the verge of a race war after Ferguson and now this. The media, eric holder, sharpton, etc are loving this

Tweetvery well said guns..
if your getting choked how the hell can you talk? try it bet you cant tell someone you cant breath..
are there ass hole cops out there sure there are.. but we have to have some law in this country.. you resist arrest you'll get handled like guns said...don't resist next time and you wont get clubbed.. now was the Rodney king beating a bit much? hell yes it was they were not trying to arrest him they were beating his ass..
but for the media to say he was telling the cops he couldn't breath while they choked him was bullshit.. I think his cause of death was heart attack.......if he was choked to death then his cause of death would have been that......
TweetI have heard opinions of other police officers that believe the media has played this out, once again, to make officers look like the bad one. I am not sure exactly what I think as when I first saw this on TV, I thought it was terrible that was done to that man. I am aware of how the media makes things look the way they want. Also think that officers get such a lack of respect, and what some of them see and deal with on a daily basis changes there life. That doesn't justify the actions of some officers that have in fact done wrong, but there is bad in EVERY profession.

TweetAll I believe is that for some policemen, who really see the smut and dirt daily for years, it changes them. I don't think it is always and abuse of power, but often think that maybe they snap from the cynical look on life they have unfortunately come to believe in.

well said baby....
the bad thing about cops is all of there customers all dirt bags and they deal with that daily...
TweetFor their own safety, I would think an officer must account for the worst outcome. If you resist, you are influencing their judgment of what is necessary to protect themselves and quickly end the situation. This judgment needs to be made instantaneously.
Would we be discussing either if these recent cases if these two individuals cooperated instead of resisting?
TweetFrom what I saw the victim was defiant but not threatening. I worked DJJ many years and going hands on was to prevent either Property damage-- Harm to self-- Harm to others
TweetA choke from behind like that does not cut off air. it clamps the arteries to stop blood flow to the brain. this is unless it is anaconda tight then the chokee would not be able to speak.
looks like the officer used the head to take the man down. now should they have provided aid when he was cuffed.....? yes gross negligence.
should a person committing a crime resist? no. i don;t care if you think it was petty, it is still against the law.
i know how this could have been avoided.
1. don't do anything illegal
2 don't resist
i do not see how a choke hold could kill unless you continue to hold it. if you can talk you can breathe. this obese man could have stroked out walking up a flight of stairs.
still not ok to let a guy lie of the ground without medical attention and die. but lets put some of the blame on the deceased.
