Tweet$35 for 8 blades. Having been using these for a couple years. There has to be a better way to go. How many days should you get out of one blade? A week?

TweetYa it sucks.. I use those too. One blade a week or go to amazon and pick up one of those 15 buck sharpeners.. They work I get two weeks use out of a single when I use the thing. Do a search I got the rubber looking black one it got good reviews.

TweetI dont shave anymore. I would go through one blade per week as well. I shop at costco and get a huge box of disposabel razors. Its funny i used to buy expensive razors and now i have better luck with the cheap ones.

I know a lot of guys who do the dollar shave club online thing. I beleive they have 3 razors to choose from. $1/$6/$9 per month.

Tweetalso, if you're hell bent on staying w/ Gillette or Schick (or whatever) you can strop your blades for longevity. You ever see a western movie where the barber uses a strip of leather to sharpen his straight razor? that strip of leather is a strop. luckily for us you don't need a strip of leather to accomplish the same task; all you need is a pair of jeans (denim). take your mach 3, Gillette fusion or whatever you have and get a pair of jeans out. on the jeans run the razor up a section of pant leg 30 - 50 times. just short strokes in one direction, after you hit 30 -50 flip the blade over and run it down the same section of pant leg the same number of times. this will sharpen your razor and bring it back to like now or better status.

let me know if any of that is unclear or doesn't make sense and I'll try to rephrase or answer questions. it really works and can prolong the life of your current blade considerably. instead of a week you can get a couple months out of a blade. you will get to a point where it doesn't help anymore but for sure you will get more life out of your blade.

Tweetbro please consider dorco! they supply the dollar shave club with their blades, and it's cheaper to buy straight from the source. i use their Pace 6 (six blade razor) and recently ordered 24 replacement blades for $22 shipped. we have a thread here that I'll bump whenever they run a good sale. they often run $1 flash sales which is a good chance too pick up a blade and handle on the cheap to test them out. I've been thoroughly satisfied and seriously enjoy not being price gouged by Gillette and Schick anymore. if 6 blades sounds crazy no worries they have other options and any of their replacement blades fit any of their handles so if you wanna try out a 6 blade but decide 3 is better you don't need to order an entirely new handle/blade. dorco man, check them out!!

TweetDefinitely gonna check out the Dorco. Right now I'm using the Gillette Fusion ProGlide and they cut great, but toooo damn expensive.

Tweetnext time they run a sale or send me a discount code I'll post it here. i will say that one time after about two weeks of use one of the blades snapped off at the handle, it was like the plastic just failed. i thought that would be indicative of dorco quality but it only happened to me one time and they're so cheap compared to the alternatives that i didn't really mind. no problems since.
