Considering the sport is all about your body I would tend to think that tattoos would be a negative thing in competing.

I would like to hear your opinions. Any of the guys that compete have tattoos?

I guess they are okay. I dont know how the sport has evolved since I have been out of the loop. I was a bb judge in the late 2000s but the sport has changed a lot. There are probably a helluva a lot more tattoos now.
Ive seen dudes that had full dark sleeves and when they are ripped, it doesnt matter, you see everything...when youre ripped to the bone, nothing can hide that

i am going to chime in on this and this is totally my opinion and from talking to many judges over the years. i have 2 tats myself and neither one is huge or distracting from my physique. some say tats have no effect on the look of the muscle and some say it is completely distracting. so for a judge sometimes it is a if they like it or not. now take a look at it this way: if you have one arm sleeved and the other isnt it will draw the eye to that one arm and can make it appear to be bigger or smaller than the other one. if you have a huge piece that covers you back and the front of your torso it does and will distort the appearance of your physique. case in point i have two physique guys that i work with atm. one has a piece that goes from his right hip in the front to his hip in the back and it covers the entire right side. dude is peeled to the bone and has not placed better than 3d. the judges told him that it distorts his physique and hides his lines even with his tan. the other guy hasnt stepped on stage yet and his entire torso is covered front to back. you cant see his abs at all period because of the ink. they are dialed in pretty good but when you stand back and look at him it doesnt look right and the ink hides it.

if you want ink then get it but for me and seeing other bbers and talking to judges i wont do it personally because at the end of the day if myself and another guy are neck and neck. he has no ink and i am covered, then it may tip the scale in his favor. that of course is my opinion so i choose not to do so even though i like tats

That's exactly what I was thinking guns. I think eventually
With the amount of tattoos people have today the judges won't mind as much but I do think some tattoos in some places could do some harm.
I have my whole chest tattooed and plan on getting more. I have never really though about competing but I figured if I could get in decent enough shape and lean up and try to compete in a physique contest or something it would be fun to do just one. Also my buddy is wanting to compete and he has some tattoos he is the main reason I asked this he deffinetly has the heard to do good.

^^I definitely agree with this. I was recently at a body building competition and did notice some guys were inked up pretty well and didn't end up winning and had great physiques. I think that some tattoos aren't a problem if they can be covered up well. Bronzer can fade it to an extent, but I think location is key when it comes down to the finalist on stage.

I was just thinking about this as well. Tattoos depending on the size and placement can get you extra attention. Now this may be good or bad but if every time competitor 1 moves if you catch the tattoo out of the corner of your eye you will look over at them.

This could Be good or bad but its attention non the less.my chest tattoo is huge and I know it would be a problem in competition at least that's how I feel about it. My friend on the other hand has a few tattoos but they are much smaller. I am sure they could be covered and even if they were I don't see them causing any issue based on tere. Size it placement.
