TweetI am looking to purchase a bike coming up. It will be my first street bike but I have experiance on dirtbikes for year. I don't want a liter bike becuase its to much bike for me and insurance would kill me. I am going to finance it so insurance will be mandetory.
I am looking in between these three bikes: ZX600r CBR600rr and GSXR600.
I have been a kawa guy my whole life. Both of my dirtbikes where Kawa's hands down they are my favorite bikes. Out of these 3 i also beleive it has the best looks.
My next favorite would be the CBR600. I have been told that CBR's are extremely reliable and easy to work on and is a good bike for newer riders for this reason.
I dont know much about the Gixxer other then they are very popular and very nice looking bikes.
These bikes in my price range are all roughly around the same price depending on miles and year they can very a few hundred.
Most of them appear to be 2006-2009 model years. an $6,400-$6,999. I am not looking to spend more then that so $6,999 is my max.
Miles appear to be 10,000-20,000 with most of them floating between 13,000-17,000
The Kawa seems to be harder to find and a little bit more money then the others. The CBR and GSXR seem to both be abundant in stock.
I know a lot of you guys own or have own bikes and I was curious to see why you chose the bike you did and what suggestios or opinions you had.

TweetFuzo just sold his Suzki GSXR750 but he absolutely loved the bike! Would have kept it but it beacme to small for him
Veritas Vos Liberabit
TweetI have ridden all 3. i liked the CBR best and the GSXR the least. the ZX is a fine bike but the one i rode was green and ugly.
i think the reason i did not like the GSXr is because so many squid ride them, i did not want to be lumped into the squid category.
i do think the ergos of the honda make it the absolute best as a commuter/track bike. let's face it you will ride it normal 99% of the time. it has a little less HP than the others i think but it has more midrange which makes it just as fast. again most comfortable IMO. that coming from a guy who ended up with maybe the most aggressive yamaha R6.
TweetGUYS AT THE TRACK LOVE THE SUZUKIS BECAUSE THATS "WHAT EVERYONE HAS"...I HAD A CBR 600RR AND IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO GET IT. I WAITED AND I WAS GLAD I DID!! EVERYONE AT THE TRACK THAT SAT ON MINE OR RODE MINE WAS IN LOVE WITH IT. IT WAS EASIER TO RIDE AND EVERYONE SAID IT FELT MORE "NIMBLE". I LIKED THE CENTER-UP EXHAUST TOO INSTEAD OF A BIG PIPE HANGING OUT ONE SIDE AND ALONG WITH A HONDAS REPUTATION - EVERYTHING IS BULLETPROOF! ALSO, IF YOU HAVE A TRACK NEAR YOU, YOU HAVE TO DO SOME TRACK DAYS!! THATS WHERE YOU REALLY LEARN TO RIDE!!
HERES WHERE WE RIDE:
Talladega Gran Prix Raceway - About the Track
GO TO THE SHOPS, SIT ON EACH ONE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF WHAT FEELS BEST...DONT TAKE SOMEONE ELSE'S WORD FOR ANYTHING. GET WHAT FEELS COMFORTABLE TO YOU AND THEN RIDE THE SHIT OUT OF IT!! HAA!
O2
HERES A PIC OF THE '07 CBR600RR I HAD!
TweetHERES ANOTHER CBR600RR I HAD...THIS ONE WAS AN O4. IM JUST PARTIAL TO HONDAS!
TweetZX600r.....getting one of these in june
TweetHahaha yeah i know what you mean. The I am not a fan of the green ZX's either but thy look great in black

TweetYeah I am deffinetly going to go sit on all three to see how they feel. I also like the rear exhuast better then the side exhuast as well.
I really think its between this and the CBR I will have to see how each one feels and more importantly it will depend on whats available in a few months when i have the funds.

TweetOf those years 06 07 I'd pick gsxr. 09 zx6-r is a top pick anything newer then car is my pick. I've owned both gsxr and zx6-r an zx6-r has impressed me haven't rode a car yet but if i get a new year bike it'll be a car but my 09 zx6-r out performs
TweetI love the busa But i would never own one. Way to big for my taste and I dont need that much power. I will honestly probably never even need a liter bike. I will be fine with a 600.

TweetI have owned quite a few the cbr 600 was nice. But there is a reason everyone owns gsxr. They are the best in the price range. I have an 04 gsxr 1000cc. Like that year because still had the bigger fenders but the new headlight setup. But In the end its what you feel right on.

Tweetgixxers are very comfortable to ride. kawis might have the best performance. Cbr for reliability.
TweetAnyone know anything about insurance? What is the minimum coverage I can have when financing a motorcycle in Florida? From my understanding and I could be wrong but i can finance a motorcycle with minimum coverage as long as I have collision and comprehensive coverage.
Now because of my age I am looking at about $150 a month for a 600 depending on the the year. The 2006-2008 bikes seem to be about $40 cheaper then the 2009+. I really dont want to spend $150 a month on fucking motorcycle insurance considering i wont ride more then a few times a week max. If i can get the payment of the bike and the insurance to equal $200 a month or less I might try and grab a bike. I am going to talk to my insurance provider tomorrow. I am also going to ask them about a motorcycle safety course. As much as I dont want to take one from my understanding they can lower your insurance by as much as 25%.
