Today I was dragging ass before leaving for work, and my wife was giving me shit. Well I finally leave and forgot I needed gas so I stopped and put in $20 and off I went. Well not more than 5 or 6 miles down the highway on I57 in the worst fog I ever seen, it starts to slow down and then stops. I see a big flash and people start running and more getting out of their car. I was in the middle of a 20 or more car pile up and just ahead a car was under a trailer truck and blazing on fire. #0 seconds sooner or if I was driving like I normaly would it would probably been me. I never seen anything like this. it was like a movie happening around me, but this was very much real. I grabbed a lady and her 5 kids( 3 of which did not have shoes on and none of them had coats) and wrapped them with a blanket and a sleeping bag I had in my trunk and then brought them to my car to get warm. The youngest was 3 and scared as can be. The mother was in shock. She told me her cousin was still in the car so I went back for her. She was strapped in the car right behind the trailer of a truck that the cab was in flames crashed into the back of a tanker. I pride the door open and got her out just as the fire trucks where getting there. I had her get in my car and tried to help the firemen get these dumb ass people away from this burning tanker. I was able to get the people in my car to people they knew and get my car down the shoulder and turned around at the cut through to go home and change my wet clothes and go to work. All the way to work I could not help but think how lucky I was. Cars where smashed all around me, people hurt, cars and trucks on fire, and I waqs untouched. All I lost was a $200 sleeping bag, pair of socks and a blanket that I gave to people to stay warm. 30 seconds earlier and it could have been my car on fire ect... Really made me think about how lucky I am and all this tress about buying this house really does not compare toproblems that could be much much worse. Love the ones you have, remeber the ones you've lost, don't take things for granted, and don't sweat the small stuff. My thoughts and prayers to all the people that where hurt and effected by this.
