You're right but I was going for something very easy for her to conceal and carry around.Lets face it brother, ive seen guys get shot with 38's and keep coming after you.Thats why cops stopped carrying them.
The whole idea of having a gun is not to get into a fire fight or but to deter someone from attacking you in the first place. Some people even buy guns and are too scared to even fire them.Hopefully if it comes to his wife being attacked she would have time to pull the gun in the first place and if she does,no matter if its a 22 or a 38 it will help deter someone from coming after her and if not a 22 to the head, throat or chest will do just fine.Shotting them anywhere will actually give them second thoughts. Why go after anyone with ANY handgun when you can just go after the next person?
Ive been in the Marine corps brother and ive seen guys get shot with a lot bigger bore than a 38 and still keep coming so if unless shes going to go Dirty Harry on them, the idea would be to have something small, light and easy to carry around that would help "prevent" someone from coming after her,not stop them once they start. If they've already started, then they are close enough to get a fatal shot with anything.

TweetShe was eyeballing the g27
TweetVery nice gun! I shot the G26 a few weeks ago and it was awesome! I really like the g27 but i didnt want .40 as my CCW
Tweethome defense i am a big fan of the 5.7 FN , i just dig that thing large clip little recoil really great shooter but its about a grand and ammo aint the cheapest.
if shes looking to carry i think the 38special is great. its got a bit of snap but nice . you can take her to a local gun range and rent the diffrent pistols that way she can find a confort zone . problem with renting is it can get pricey fast. pick a few and burn some brass. she may dig the hell out of it.
TweetS&W bodyguard. a fine weapon for a person with a smaller frame. also the ruger LCR in .38 spl if she wants a revolver.
Tweetsnub 38, kel tec 9-11 (small and cheap only about 250-300 bucks) glock 19 (one of my personal facorvites) the list goes on brother
Tweethere is my take on a revolver for a female (now keep in mind i am a firearms instructor) with a dbl action trigger and under stress it is often hard for a woman and a lot of males to be able to hit there target in the sweet zone. the long drag on the trigger is a huge factor when getting somewhat decient sight alignment and sight picture. best bet is to find either a good light and short draw with a revolver or a dual action weapon where if she misses with the first round the follow up shot will be a short squeeze of the trigger for the kill. now if you have the time and resources to get to the range weekly or bi wkly that can be eliminated almost completely but in the real world most people just dont have that opportunity
TweetGet a nice easy to use pump shot gun, the noise itself will stop most people in her tracks...most women I've trained with weapons love the pump.
.380 is a nice choice for a hand gun, also consider a small revolver such as one by Taurus.
TweetSpringfield XD .45 Tactical
