There are hundreds of ideas out there.

I don't ever diet diet myself. But 6 months of the year I go into contest mode.....I generally go keto until the week of the show.

But I would not recommend keto to the average guy who just wants to cut fat out.

For me, it really comes down to not only what I eat, but the times I eat it. Moderation and meal times are most important. Along with a good cardio plan...a lil eca stack won't hurt either

if you are not looking to get into stage shape i like a good carb cycle. for example an 8 day cycle would be (200lb guy):
      day 1and2 400g carb
      day 3and4 200g carb
      day 5and6 100g carb
      day 7and 8 0g carb
      repeat
every other cycle you can add in a nice cheat meal or 2 on you first high carb day to stay sane but dont eat the regular carbs as listed. this approach doesnt allow your body to adjust and adapt and you will keep leaning out and is the similar approach to how i diet to get ready for shows on a higher and longer stint

yep and that is how it is done sir. i hold max muscle with this method. add in 20-45min cardio 300-400g protein a day and you are going to lose bodyfat. if you dont have an issue with it and leave the cheat out then it will go even faster. this is the exact version that i have used for about 6 years to dial in for shows. 12 wks out i start this. at 16-20wks out i have 100-300g of carb everyday then transition over

How do you adjust your other macros as carbs cycle up and down? Do you keep protein and cals roughly the same and deduct/add fat to compensate for the the 1600 cals of swing from carbs during the cycle? Or do you like the cycling of total kcals too?

Protein normally stays high, fat and carbs are adjusted. One day you'll eat over your Max calories and the others your at or below. Its hard work, but will yield nice results.

i like to cycle the total kcals at the begining and when you drop under double digit body fat and are able to tell you are starting to lose muscle then you start adding in healthy fats and protein to offset. small adjustments though

in the past i had gone keto as well. more recently though i'v learned i can moderate my diet by sticking to oatmeal, brown rice and sweet potatoes for carbs and kean meats and supps for protien. What really works is to eat much smaller portions, more often during the day. do this shrinks your stomach and keeps your metabolism constantly churning. So during the day i'll eat small portions every 2.5-3 hours rotating a carb and protien
