TweetWhat's up everyone! Ok, here is the deal....
My house is filled with different health conditions and different ages. I got daughters that are 2, 8, and 10. My 10 year old does not appear to be fat but is very solid. She is almost 11 and is already pushing 130lbs! However, I am concerned that when older age hits she will be in for a rude awakening! She has a different dad and he is a fatty so genetically it will be rough if something isn't done soon.
My wife has thyroid problems and her levels are all out of wack. The Doc has prescribed medicine, but I'm doing my own research on some herbal remedies first before I go the route of pills that decrease her heart rate.
My father-in law has diabetes. He just moved in about 6 months ago and is stuck on wanting to eat soul food 24 stinkin 7. Overall my house is lazy! Even I feel the fatigue because of a diet that needs to improve. My kids are so stuck on sugar that they rather starve than eat something healthy, but all that is about to change! I married my wife with her having 2 kids already so it has taken some time to financially posture ourselves. We are in a much better situation to upgrade our grocery bill(although I still want it to be affordable) and so it is time to make a change. Normally I just focused on my own diet, but I can't take it anymore. I would let my wife cook whatever she wanted and let my father in law have his soul food and so I bit the bullet while going along for the ride. I can't take it anymore because I feel disgusting and it is hurting my results.
I also coach soccer with my kids so I bust their butts 3 times a week to make sure SOME cardio is going on.
What I'm really trying to say is this......I need some help with an OVERALL family grocery list that will at least help the health problems/lazyness/overall health of my family.
I copied the clean food list that is stickied but I would appreciate a little more insight such as fun recipes that would appeal to all and maybe some help as far as the health conditions. Holla!
TweetMaybe you could look into a healthy cook book? We bought one from a Dr.Axe here locally and it called the "real food" cook book or something like that. I haven't eaten everything in there but what I have was very good. I think that would be a great place to start. That way it could be like a family thing and pick out the recipes that everyone seems to like.
