TweetI have been way out of control with my sugar intake, pretty much since Halloween.
The more I eat it, the more I crave it, and I feel like crap!
I have to stop this madness, but really don't know the best way to approach it? Should I stop cold turkey, and if so, what should I replace those sugar cravings with??? Or should I slowly remove it??
If anyone has been successful at eliminating sugar from your diet, I would love to hear your suggestions, please!!!
Thanks so much!

TweetThanks, but I am not talking about sugar added to coffee or tea or anything.
I mean sugar as in candy bars, chocolate, cookies, etc, things like that.
I have to get that junk out of my system, but replace it with something that I wont think about missing the junk!
TweetWhen I have a craving I drink a chocolate protein shake. Jello sugar free pudding is good too

Tweetyup, find substitutes. Like low/no sugar things or just drop it cold turkey and replace the sugars with complex carbs. After a short while u will adjust and stop craving it as much. Drink a lot of water too and eat every 2-3 hours. If u dont let yourself ever get really hungry u will feel satisfied and not be as likely to crave sweets. Plus, get rid of the junk laying around your house, if its not there u wont think about it as much.

Great advice! Also, refer to this thread and maybe try this out for awhile.

TweetHi Ropie!!!!Always great to see you posting on the board. I can appreciate what you're going through. It is challenging. For one, eat a whole grapefruit in the morning. Peel it and eat all the white in it and everything. Force yourself to eat some fruit. Eat an orange. These will satisfy the sugar craving without shooting your blood sugar soaring. We have to remember that when we have high blood sugar, our body gets busy STORING fat...the other thing, is find a really good, sweet tasting protein drink. Those also curb cravings. I am drinking Nutrition53 Lean1 and it is the best tasting protein drink ever..it curbs my need to go to carls Jr and order a milkshake....I know what its like to go to walllgreens and load up on dove chocolate, sprees, sweettarts, skittles, tootsie roll pops, reeces, etc etc...Put it in front of me and I would devour it...I feel your pain, Ropie...good luck..You can do it!!!!
TweetCOLD TURKEY IS THE BEST WAY, TAKES ABOUT 6 WEEKS TO DETOX
it's all about insulin sensitivity
if you're a reader or researcher, the subject is Carbohydrate Addiction, lot's of books and sites
this is a chemical issue not personality defect problem
potatoes and plain popcorn, and spaghetti, in moderation will replace shitty sugars with better high glycimic carbs for a first step
the issue is probably like most carbohydrate addicts, not one or two candy bars but three, once u hit three you're insulin spikes and the carvings become totally completely unmanageable, and like any addict overall the easiest path is to not even go one
most of the time this is also wrapped up with stress in general like other stressfull shyte in life in the background that triggers shyte, most likely the background will not go away, so ur only control is too plain ass stop it, drop it and realize overall it harms your life more than helps it in almost every way
TweetThank you so much everyone for the great advice!
I am ready to do this, I feel like crud, especially today, so I really HAVE to do this!
I appreciate all the great suggestions, wish me luck!
TweetGood Luck!
