I lost 40 pounds o` beer guzzlin ASS FAT when I moved here 3 years ago. Love the soba. soba is good.

It`s a super low glicemic index (sp?) buckwheat noodle that you boil in five min and rise with cold water and serve cold with soba sauce you can find at the same Asian food store where you can get the soba, and scope for asian hotties. So instant and so healthy.

      100grams gives 357 cal, 14.4g pro, 1.3g fat & 71.6g of super clean carbs.

It`s never been easier to eat 8 400 calorie meals a day using some of this truely useful stuff. And to top that often the soba package comes in 100g or 150g prewrapped portions, no measuring. Do this and a can of tuna and your in the game for some fat loss and muscle retention.

And it`s like cheap as spaghetti. Ask for it by name "So-ba"...

It`s really easy to cook, basically all you do is boil it for five minutes, or until soft (just not too soft)

then put into a strainer and rinse with cold water until the soba is cold (one minute or so, give it a shake around in the strainer)

The soba sauce is usually a concentrate so you mix 1 pt sauce to 4 parts water, if you want to be authentic add a pinch of wasabi and some finely sliced challots (those long pointy green onions) finally if you really want to go all the way drop a whole raw quail egg (regluar will do) into the sauce, this will help the sauce stick to the noodles. The egg takes some getting used to but I like it.

Or you can just eat the noodles like I do dump into a bowl and eat -em plain.

Or you can add some spaghetti sauce, just like regluar (cold) spag.

Or you can add salsa to the soba, an odd match to be sure but I really like the combo.

      Ahhhhhhh I forgot!

After you drop the wasabi, egg and everything into the soba sauce don`t forget to mix it really well or you may experience...

      Wasabi Attack.

You`ll know what that is the minute you experience your first one,
It hurts but you`ll come back for more.

      hussle-man,
I don`t know what your workout routine is or hight, weight, etc but what I did when trying to loose weight was to eat 100g soba and one can of tuna as a meal. Then I ate that once every three or four hours. For dinner I did chicken breasts and salad (no fat dressing) Breakfast I had oatmeal and egg-whites. No alcohol. I combined that with some fat-burners (Hydroxycut) drank lots of water every day and I lost 48.4 pounds over 5 month period.

Dude, its a really low glycemic index food. You can definately get ripped on it.

As a body builder I love it for three reasons.
      1. it is super easy to cook, cleans up in a second.
      2. low G.I.
      3. highest % protein of any pasta or carb source commonly choosen as a persons main source of carbs. (so far as I know)

It`s not the end all, I just really recommend trying it with your other low carb sources.

ok i tried it last night plain and with some salsa... not bad at all.. definetly easier to choke down than plain brown rice...kinda expensive....about a dollar a serving~

i think i'll eat it twice a day with my brown rice and oatmeal
