I seem to have reached a plateau in my development. I am 41 years old, 5’10” tall and weigh 210 lbs. at 18.5% BF. I started training about 16 months ago at 232 pounds and 32& BF. My current, and 5th cycle, is 500 mg of Test Enanthate, 450 mg Deca, and 400, mg of Equipose weekly.

My diet has been at 12 calories per pound on a 50/30/20 split of protein, carbs and fat. This is close to what FLEX magazine is advocating as far as the protein and carbs are concerned. My split calls for 315 grams of protein, 189 carbs, and 56 grams of fat. I am confused by an article in FLEX magazine that says one can add 10 pounds of muscle in 3 months by consuming 3800 calories per day with a minimum of 1 carb per pound and 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound. If I shoot for 315 grams of protein and 210 carbs on a 3800 calorie per day diet, that means that 1600 calories, or 177 grams of fat, must be added!

I train 4 afternoons per week {Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday} and do cardio on those same mornings for 30 minutes on an elliptical runner at a heart rate of 150 BPM covering 3.2 miles in 30 minutes.

My main goal is to lower my body fat and possible add a few pounds of muscle at the same time. I seem to have been doing this all along even though one would think that in order to add a pound per week of muscle, one would have to consume an extra 3,500 calories per week. I was hoping that adding muscle and fat loss would be possible simultaneously because of the high protein intake, use of AS, and morning cardio. I also use Xenadrine as a fat burner but am switching to Thermorexin next week.

If someone could help me on this I would appreciate it. I guess the suggested intake of 210 carbs by FLEX magazine confuses me since I have heard always go low carb to cut the fat but they say 1 gram per pound is to be considered a cutting/diet phase.

      Thanks for the help,

      Farrar

by the way your cycle looks you are trying to bulk.you cant bulk and cut at the same time.you should do one or the other.if you are going to bulk up i would cut out the cardio and eca stack.you are burning well needed calories.maybe try to get more carbs.just eat good carbs like brown rice, oats, and lots of green veggies.when your done your cycle then you can always cut your fat down.how long is your cycle?i did a similar cycle and got good results.

Cycle is 12 weeks long. Yes...I guess I do want to get big-and small at the same time!@#.

I believe I will focus on bulking first even though the BF is high.

      Thanks,

      Farrar

Yeah, I did Fina and Test the cycle before this. It help quite a bit. Strength gains were also impressive.

It's been 2 months since the surgery and I still have some problem. I can grip items with the fingers but can only extend/open the fingers about halfway. This is better though as they did just lay against my palm. Doc said it could take 3-6 months to regain full use BUT the pain in the forearm is totaly gone and the weight training is no problem.

      Thanks for asking Trip,

      Flex sucks

Try an isocaloric split, 33% everything. Works well on adding muscle while staying lean. Tren, winny, whatever, only work if your diet right, no steroid is magic, food is.

      Critique of Diet...I'm Stuck!
I can post from personal experience, I had similar stats, did it clean though starting at age 40 (I'm now 44)

      here ya go:

      Starting:
      306#, 29%BF, 45" waist
      (12 mos of basic training)
      End of 12 mos, down to a 36" waist, 254# and 18%BF

      90 Days
      Jan 2001-Apr 2001
      Starting: 256#, 18%, 36"

Double Variable Olympic lifting split (2 workouts a day with cardio)
      https://groups.msn.com/BodaciousBodie...Training%2Exls

      Ending: 212#, 6%, 32" waist

Average Calories during this was 2400/daily to cut, cycled up and down from 1800 (i.e. everytime the scale dropped a few, I had one day at 2400, then back to 1800.....zig, zag method is what this is called). You can get some great advice in Negrita Jayde's book Sliced (available on Amazon.com for about $14). I used this and the training program to get to my results.

      2 years later
      from 212#, 6% 32"
currently at 245#, 12%, 33" and heading for a 6 week cutting cycle

      Secrets learned:
Took everything I learned the first year, and applied it for 90 days the 2nd year, that took off the same amount of weight in 90 days, that I had done in 12 months.
Diet was flexible, but still strict
Found I was IR (Insulin Resistant) from being overweight so many years, which made it necessary to go below 50g of carbs daily to acheive 6% bf.

You can read up on it at my page on MSN (and the training program is on the left side banner) https://groups.msn.com/BodaciousBodiesbyBodie

enjoy, your mileage may vary, but I know this works for us older horses....

      bodie,

Excellent work, and good advice on the zig-zag, it's a good method.

      Farrar,

Nice to be lifting again, and yup it takes the nerves 3-6 months to heal. Might try some Pregnenolone, you can get it anywhere it helps heal the mylin, the sheathing on the outside of the nerve cell, which was probably compressed.

Awesome results via plenty of dedication and hard work.
