We all know this fruit (Yeah brothers and sisters, it is a fruit.) contains a BUNCH of healthy mono unsaturated fat that is heart healthy. But what are some other benefits?

When I go keto, I eat an avocado every day, sometimes two. I figured the healthy fat would offset the saturated bacon grease I consumed in quantities that would make all north American pigs nervous.

A lot of guys throw a banana in their shake to get their potassium.

After a little research I found an avocado has a a third more potassium as a banana, 27 less grams of sugar than a banana (avocado has 1 gram of sugar), and a whopping 10 more grams of super beneficial fiber.

Avocados contain 10X as much vitamin K (I could expound on the benefits of this vitamin in a thread all it's own).

Like B vitamins? avocados have 3x as much B3 and B5.

Avocados contain a fair amount of the anti oxidant vitamins A, C, D, and E.

This super duper fruit also contains two very powerful and beneficial substances you may or may not have heard of, lutein and zeaxanthin.

Lutein is pretty well known, it is good for your eyes. Studies have shown it slows macular degeneration and helps prevent cataracts. Zeaxanthin also protects the eyes by absorbing harmful ultraviolet light. Kind of like a natural sunblock for your peepers. The two together are really beneficial for long term eye health. Avocados are very rich sources of both of these compounds. In fact they are at the top of the list. Read more about these two and eye health: WebMD -- Error 404

Have i convinced you to start eating avocados regularly?

      The jipped healthy shake recipe:

I blend spinach, avocado, banana (I like bananas), mixed berries (frozen), ground flax or chia seeds, a few drops of liquid stevia as I have a sweet tooth, and a few scoops of vanilla protein powder.

"Jipped, this is a pain to do every time I want a smoothie!" You say.

This is how I do it. I make some green tea, not too strong I use the green tea (after it cools) and blend my smoothie using the tea as my liquid to get the right texture.

Here is the part that makes it easier. I fill ice trays with the smoothie, and freeze them. Not to much in each tray as the thicker you make them the harder they are to blend later and they take too long to melt. I use a ninja blender cup thing. It is pretty powerful and does a good job. I take a tray out before I go to the gym and put the solid cubes into the cup. When I get home enough of the ice has melted the when blended I end up with a very nicely textured smoothie in 30 seconds.

I make enough trays for a week of smoothies.
"SHIAT BIOTCH, thats a big ass!"

A clear concience is a sign of a bad memory.

Great info. I try to eat one a day. I put salt on them and eat them with a spoon. My dogs love avocados with salt

good stuff jipped. you want to know what's funny? people are ignorant when it comes to bananas and i think most claim to eat them for the pottaisum but in reality it's because they are sweet and taste good because they suck for potassium content. red potatoes and spinach have a ton more in them and are much better selections for getting your potassium in just like you point out with the avocados as well.

I just thought I would post it up. I do not do this enough. I will go for 2 weeks drinking a nutrient smoothie daily, then I will run out and not do it for 3 weeks. I really should as I feel better when I do.

I've been throwing 1/2 avocado in my shakes for years. I love the consistency it gives, and it is very satiating. Thanks for sharing, jipped.
