This time I am talking food, and not people!

It's holiday time and there sits that bowl of nuts. A mixture of walnuts, cashews, peanuts, pecans, filberts and then there is that one nut I avoided because I didn't know what it was and in my house it had a weird name attached to it, lol. Come to find out it is a delicious nutritious nut, called the Brazil Nut. Like most nuts, it is high in fat both Omega 3 fats, but saturated too. The benefits outweigh that negative, but we probably shouldn't consume many of them. Just 1, maybe 2, will give you good nutrients.

The Brazil nut is loaded with antioxidants, and chuck full of selenium, zinc, magnesium and Vitamin C. Good for our immune system, red blood cells, thyroid health, testosterone and more.

Lets break it down

The Brazil nut is a nut that contains more selenium than any other. Selenium being good for the skin, the effects of aging, acne, and hormonal health. Especially good for the thyroid gland, which is responsible for a lot in our body including metabolism. Also good for a testosterone boost, and fertility in men. Like many things, selenium is not a mineral we want to overdue, so remember even 1 nut a day is helpful. Throw it in your shake, or pair up with a piece of dark chocolate.

The Brazil nut is high in fiber. Digestive benefits means happy tummy, happy people.

The Brazil nut is one of the best nuts for boosting the immune system. With the amount of Vitamin C, selenium and zinc it's a win win! Also helpful with collagen production, and that seems to be the latest buzz we are hearing about lately.

The Brazil nut is high in magnesium.
We can all use more of that.

You can buy them shelled, or no shell. If shelled, they don't last long so they must be eaten in a shorter time.

So that is my story on a nut that it took me many years to discover. When you see it in that holiday bowl of nuts, grab a nut or 2!

Try adding this to your daily intake of fats, and remember a little does a lot.

Always watch for side effects, like allergic reactions, heart health, and remember these nuts are high in fats, but if you go a bit overboard on then during holiday season...who cares! YOLO!

I leave you with that and may you think of me when you grab a Brazil nut!
