My 56 year old sis has been struggling with thyroid, cholesterol issues since her late 40's. I have tried to educate and help her but in the end, it is up to oneself to be tired of their issue and take a stand. I did tell her to NOT even get started on taking statins so I am happy she listened to me on that. So she saw this dietician who has done wonders for her. She has lost 50lbs, normal cholesterol and other labs as well as better sleep, no snoring, more energy and great overall health.

I have an appointment to see this doc so she could get me on track with this eating also. The problem isn't my weight YET but my body pain and food sensitivities.

What the plan is she only is allowed certain foods and as time progresses some foods are put back in her eating.

My point here is I firmly believe nutrition affects everything 100%. Even if you are eating clean certain things still can bother you IF you have certain health issues and inflammation keeps occurring. If you have tried everything and pain or issues still persist, starting an anti inflammatory way of eating might be something to try. I have been able to see firsthand and share this journey, with her and I am so happy for her! Havent seen her this happy with herself for years and she NEVER had a problem with weight before entering middle age years.

I've been eating a lot more healthy fats in my diet as of late...coconut oil of course, EVOO, chia seeds...things like that, I'm not sure if I've noticed anti inflammatory responses so much, but I do notice my skin has had noticeable improvements...I never had bad skin but it glows a bit now

with that said I agree on the nutrition aspect...eating "clean" doesn't always mean healthy, I've heard ppl talk about eating chicken breast all the time and if they get blood work, the blood work isn't that good because they aren't getting enough variety or the necessary vitamins needed

I can tell you that her dietician has limited even good fats for awhile. Some of those good fats even can inflame. Like for me, I cant have avocado, coconut oil or even peanut butter lately. I occasionally still do and deal with the consequence but much less than I used to. What happens to me after those foods are injested is terrible joint and face pain. I know there are certain fats she allowed when she started and like I said, reintroduces as she goes along

So what specific changes has she made? Is there a link to the Doc?

i think we talked about this before baby1. taking out a bunch of things that are normal irritants and then introducing them back in slowly one at a time to eliminate the ones causing issues. that being said with how your body fights pretty much everything you will be a tough nut to crack so to speak because one day you are fine with something and then bam you dont tolerate it anymore. i would be interested in seeing if you have some form of gut disease like chrons or something like that. that could be the root cause of your intolerances

if you do a search here steve, i am pretty sure that baby1 and i have an article or two about foods that are the normal issues and how to eliminate them then reintroduce them back in to figure out which ones are causing you issues

Not only was in things in her diet that the dietician had her stop, it was also certain skin products etc. Even foods you would think were "ok", such as oats, she stopped also.

I am considering seeing her as I think she could help me with all of my food sensitivities and chronic pain

indeed. about 70% of people are mag deficient.

part of anti inflammatory eating is getting all of one's necessary vitamins and minerals.
