TweetContext is key, what kind of study is this?
So lets look at the AIRC and this study it is based on surveys of volunteers. These people do not have set diets, they are simply eating what they regularly would. Also there are no age or pre-existing condition perimeters in the study.
What does this mean? What kind of vegetarian do you think would sign up for such a survey over multiple years? Well a healthy vegetarian probably who wants to show how much more healthy their lifestyle is. And what about the other group? I can tell you i do not have time for this crap. So who does? Maybe older retired people? This study splits people by diet, not age, health at the time, or anything else. Just diet.
So, a vegetarian diet might be healthier than a diet of someone eating a chicken enchilada TV dinner every day for lunch and washing it down with a soda. but is it healthier than a person who eats meat and does not consume processed foods, sugar and such? My sis is a strict vegetarian and she and her immediate friends are not healthy. They are all overweight with health probs. Eating way too much cheese and refined carbs.
I doubt anyone will read this but I wrote it anyway.
Tweeti call horse shit. if we were made to eat plants then our teeth would all be flat like cows and horses. they are not point blank period and no study is going to change that. we are made to eat a combo of both not one or the other primarily. so what all these studies fail to find or point out is: some of us just have shitty genetics and are prone to heart and heath issues and some are not regardless of what they eat. a little less of this and that here and there along with getting off your fat ass goes a hell of a long way.
prime example a good friend of mine that is pretty old has horrific cholesterol issues. i am talking scary high numbers. doc put him on vege diet and meds and the dudes numbers are still way high and have been as long as i have known him. he is in fantastic shape works out and does cardio while following the doc guidance to the t. so i am more of a believer in genetics have more of an impact than anything else does. can we help it? hell yeah but i really think it is only a small amount
