Dude, f&^k that, you're not making a fool of yourself, at all! You're asking questions, because you presumably want to do this right!

Sorry, what I meant by "presses" are military presses, my preference is using dumbells.

The reason that I suggested the workout that I did, is that in a month, you're going to change things around a bit. Instead of doing low weight/ihgh reps, you're going to do the opposite - low reps/heavy weight. The exercises that I gave you are all ones that stimulate growth, which is what you said that you were looking for, if I recall. Once you do that, your muscles will need that time to recover.

What I do, is incorporate triceps into my chest day. The compound exercises that I gave you, all enlist triceps to a great degree, so it makes sense to me to finish up my workout with a few tricep exercises, as opposed to doing them on another day. Same thing with biceps. For me, if I'm doing back right, my biceps get all they can handle. Every once in a while, I'll throw in some sort of curling movement in.

As far as shoulders go, I toss in military presses in on my back day.

The last reason that I gave you the workout that I did, is that it's simple to follow. You'll get in and out of the gym, and still feel like you've been through a wringer! I sure do.

Don't hesitate to ask questions. Now, get cracking!!

All right Blink, you've talked me into it! After considering many alternatives I'm gonna follow that workout you posted for a month and see how things go, then hopefully I'll be ready to hit the heavy weights.

BTW - I could still use some recommendations for creatine, protein, and mutlivitamins? Is all creatine/protein/multivitamins the same? Is the expensive stuff just hyped up? This is the area where I'm totally in the dark

so many dif people will tell u their fav. creatine or protein or multi. stick with what u can get real cheap. try optimum nutrition protein, u can get a 10lb bag for $45, and most creatines are good some just overpriced like cell tech. for a multi i like GNC mega man.

also with the work out i gave u i would change it up in a month or so to
      day1
      chest and legs
      day 2 pushing
      shoulders and triceps
      day 3 pulling
      back and biceps

blink i would love to see the workout u gave him, im just curious on how u would set up a newbie.

and clint bro ask as many questions as u want, the only stupid question is one that is not asked. and were not gonna flame u for anything u say. were all tryin to help ya out.

This is the routine that he either has used or still uses, hope he doesn't mind me copying and pasting it.

      Mon: Chest

      5 sets 4 reps bench
5 sets 4 reps incline (alternate w/declines each week)
5 sets 4 reps weighted dips
      3 sets skull crushers

      Tues: off

      Wed: Back

      6 sets 3 reps deads
      6 sets 5 reps rows
      4 sets 4 reps presses
3 sets 5 reps weighted pullups

      Thurs. off

      Friday: Legs

      6 sets 4 reps squats
6 sets 10 reps calf raises

Sounds to me like it will work pretty good for a beginner. He recommend doing 10-12 maybe even 15 reps per set with a lighter weight. I'm definately looking forward to starting this on monday!

im not a big fan of lots of sets with low reps for a newbie especially if your goin light weight. if your doin 3-4 sets with reps from 10-12 i think youll do just fine.

So you think I should lower it to 4 sets and increase the weight a little?

In the begining you need to concentrate on the mass builders as everyone else has said. You have to have the mass to refine first. Stick with squats deads and bench presses at the start. More volume is never a good thing in the begining. Work on your strength base and learn proper form from the begining.

Wouldnt 3 whole body workouts be the best for someone with no exp. At least for the first 6 months until he has something to work with?

the only thing i dont like about full body workouts is it takes up to much time. he could hit 2 muscles a day in like a hour and some change.
