Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Wednesday
Tennis
Skipped the gym to play tennis. It was a nice day out so I figured why not. I played super bad though and I think it took away from my cardio effort. The racket I was using had horrible grip so it kept rotating in my hand whenever I hit the ball, I became frustrated because I couldn't get enough power on my hits. By the end I noticed myself stop trying to get to difficult shots. I usually make it a point to chase everything down because of the HIIT cardio that becomes involved. This morning my legs are super sore though so maybe the workout was better than I originally thought. Hopefully by the end of the summer i'll be somewhat competent.
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Thursday
Deadlift 4 sets
Leg press 4 sets
DB curl 4 sets
Jump rope superset with goblet squat, close grip cable row, rope hammer curl 3 sets
Also did 2 sets of step ups
Starting to really see results now. I feel like the summer body is coming in nicely. And the weight felt good moving. Deadlifts were good and I felt like if I wanted to I could of went a little heavier. I'd rather not push it and get all the other work in which I did. After tennis on Wednesday my legs and glutes were sore but once I started moving all of that went away. Leg press was nice and I didn't experience any knee pain which was good.
I went home though and put my knee sleeve and ankle sleeves on and wore them most of the night because I have had some slight pain in those areas recently. I figure if I could keep some swelling down and have some compression in those areas it would help in the future.

Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Saturday
DB curl superset with close grip press 4 sets
BB curl superset with under hand reverse extension 4 sets
DB hammer curl superset with rope extension 4 sets
Jump rope superset with rope hammer curls and palms in cable extension 3 sets
I was a little groggy going into the workout. I've gotten to a point where I look forward to Saturdays workout but I didn't sleep all that great Friday night. I could def tell during the workout that I was just a touch off. The weight wasn't a problem or anything like that but I felt like something was missing as well. The jump rope really showed me that I probably needed to sleep because I kept tripping up early into the jumping.
Sunday
Basketball
As we get into summer I'm going to try and make Sunday another day of basketball. The game is fun, it's older guys and it's more relaxed but still the same great cardio. My brother also started a new job so he can't play his normal basketball during the week so we'll try and play together on Sunday when we can. This week I played like garbage and I think my legs were just tired. I think from doing more cardio, tennis, jump rope and doing legs twice last week that they needed a break. But still the cardio is the main thing and it felt good to run. I think I'm going to skip the jump rope today just to give my legs a bit of a rest in case I play basketball tomorrow.
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Monday
Flat bench 5 sets
Landmine shoulder press 4 sets
EZ bar behind neck extension 4 sets
Overhand extension superset with incline bench 3 sets
Underhand extension superset with facepull 3 sets
Decline hammer strength sueperset with reverse peck deck 3 sets
Not the greatest experience at the gym yesterday. My neck was tight yesterday and only got worse as the day went on. It wasn't the most pain but it was uncomfortable and when I would lay on my back to do bench, I would get dizzy. It sucked too because the weight felt light but the dizziness worried me that I shouldn't push too much. I did go heavy but not as heavy as I felt I could of. That's why I did more rear delt work, I was hoping doing the facepull and reverse peck deck that it would loosen up my neck which it did but not totally. It wasn't until I got home that I laid on a lacrosse ball and foam rolled, then applied a menthol rub to my neck and it felt better last night. It's a little tight now but not nearly what I was yesterday.
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Tuesday
Basketball
It was super hot and humid yesterday. The gym was no different. We play in a school gym and nothing was going on all night in the school so there wasn't any ac on. Worked up a good sweat super fast and it stayed. I feel like I didn't play well but in reality we had some monster kid on our team and no one on their team could stop him. So basically it was get him the ball and let him get easy points. He was also the type of guy you don't want to play with. He was yelling at ppl on offense and on defense. We are there to get some exercise, hang out with friends, and have fun....having someone like that on your team is not fun. So it is what it is but either way still a great cardio exercise.
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Wednesday
Squat 4 sets
Weighted pull 4 sets
BB curl 4 sets
T bar row superset with box jumps 3 sets
Leg press superset with preacher curl machine 3 sets
Jumprope superset with facepull and hammer curl 3 sets
Legs felt kind of sore and tired. Glutes were def sore after basketball. Workout was really good though. Took a little longer to get the legs firing and warm but after that everything was as expected. The pull ups were really good, much better than the last time I did them. I also increased my box jump, our gym just has 2 wooden boxes, can't really adjust the heights but someone took 2 aerobic step boxes and put them under the box, it only adds a few inches but I went with it to see how it was. I was able to get on them pretty easily however I still had to concentrate to make sure I didn't hit anything. Good workout though
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Thursday
Side lateral raise 4 sets
Incline bench 4 sets
V bar extension 4 sets
Jumprope superset with chest machine, shoulder press machine, bodyweight dips
Another enjoyable workout. It was my day to start with heavy shoulders but I feel like I've been doing a lot of presses and rear delt work so I concentrated on my side delt. Incline was good too but I think I had it in my head that I'm going to get this for X many reps when I probably could of got another rep or so and racked the weight without even thinking about it. The rest of the workout felt like a breeze.
Now I'm off for 3 days as I leave town for the weekend. I'm really only missing 1 workout and I probably will benefit from a 3 day layoff since I've been playing basketball on Sunday's and really only getting 1 day of rest a week.
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Monday
Deadlift 4 sets
BB curl 4 sets
DB step ups 4 sets
Jump rope superset with straight bar pulldown, vertical leg press, and DB hammer curl 3 sets
After a 3 day lay off I was ready to get back to the gym. However in warm ups my legs felt a bit jelloy, maybe the lay off but it didn't affect my performance. Deadlifts are starting to feel right on track again. In fact I think I could of even went heavier than I did but the deadlift itself takes a lot of time and if I wanted to squeeze everything in I wasn't going to be able to do extra sets. I also wanted to do leg press as the leg exercise but ppl were using it. The step ups though, wow, I don't necessarily feel the muscles working as much but that when I broke a good sweat and my legs were burning by the end of each set. I did get to do some vertical leg presses which I like at the end of the workout just because gravity on top of the movement will force blood into my upper legs.
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
I am exhausted just reading this, lol. Very hungry now too. Great job!
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Tuesday
Basketball
Had a really good run Tuesday night. I played better than I have in awhile but other than that it was a fast paced game so the sweat was pouring, the lungs were burning, and legs were tired. Exactly what I look for in a night of basketball. I'm probably the shortest person who plays so I love taking the ball for a lay up since I know I'm going to get hit. I almost look at it as an ab exercise since I'll probably end up tightening up for the impact.
Wednesday
Chestpress machine superset with shoulder press machine superset with pushdown machine 4 sets
Cable fly superset with underhand extension superset with side lateral raise 4 sets
Low cable fly superset with facepull superset with rope extensions 4 sets
I have an interview Thursday so I wanted to prepare for the interview. I did a fast workout that I usually find effective. It's all superset, a lot of cable work but I usually get a nice pump. I do this style of work when I'm in a time crunch and that's what I did. Nothing super heavy just good squeeze and good sweat.
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Good luck on your interview!
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Thursday
I had an interview at work. My plan was going to be, do the interview leave work and go to the gym. After the interview I left work and I felt soo drained. My adrenaline shut way off and I was drained. I decided to skip the gym. I went home and regrouped. I ended up spending most of the day outside being busy anyway. I cut my grass first and then I went and washed and waxed my car. I decided at that point to go to the park and shoot some basketball. That ended up being a bad idea, I was so hot and dripping sweat that I didn't last very long. I was done for.
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Now that sounds like a great day. Outside is the best!
Re: Young Gotti's Journal
Saturday
DB curl superset with straight bar extension 4 sets
DB hammer curl superset with bw dips 4 sets
BB curl superset with reverse underhand extension 4 sets
Tennis
The arm workout was somewhat normal. Nothing to write home about but enjoyable, good pump and broke a good sweat but I think it was mostly because of the humidity in the air and the a/c in the gym wasn't at full blast just yet.
However after I left, I was asked to play tennis and that's where the cardio really went into overdrive. It was super humid out and we played for about an hour and a half after I had already jumped rope, ran the cardio ladder, and did high knees for my cardio at the gym. Overall a really solid fitness day
Sunday
Basketball
Got to play basketball Sunday and the gym was super humid again. I always am drenched in sweat when we play but I've never had sweat dripping from my nose or when I move my head quickly see sweat fly off of me the way it did Sunday. Also no one had work the next day so we just kept playing. We usually play to 100 or 120 depending on time. After we hit 120, we played 30 more pts and then another 20 pts after that.
Monday
Gym was closed. We were going to try and play basketball but that never happened. However I did play tennis again. Not as intense as Saturday. The temperature was lower but it felt good. However there was 3 of us and we tried to play 1 on 2 but it was sloppy so there wasn't much moving around. It wasn't until we played king of the court where we would just play 1 set and winner stays that I really felt the cardio.
Needless to say after all of this running around I stayed dressed in compression pants, compression tank, and compression ankle sleeves the rest of the day. My knees were somewhat sore, my ankles were sore, and I jammed my thumb on Sunday, so that's sore....either way I figured if the compression would help at all. I was going to try it. My legs are a little tired and sore this morning but hopefully that gets better.
Feels like I haven't been to the gym in a week so I'm itching to lift some heavy weight, but today is basketball again. I feel flat from not lifting big muscles in awhile even though I keep telling myself that's not the case. As long as I'm moving though I'm happy.
