it's all about the calories my man. you arent shooting for show ready conditioning and just looking for fat loss. so you have to stay under maint level. you can either do that or do cardio and training to put yourself in a cal deficit. i am a fan of both but to be honest as long as you control your sugar intake, you can pretty much eat anything you want as long as you are consistent with staying under your maint numbers

i cant remember the method i used to calculate my maintenance but i figured it close to 3,000 calories, so i shaved roughly 500 calories off. should i cut some more calories to reduce the cardio?

also, does the style of weight training matter here? ive heard that if you want to do a lot of cardio then you should lift heavy rather than volume training with little rest. when i think about it the volume training with little rest is pretty much cardio weight training, so im just extending that by doing more cardio afterwards right?

I did much better when my carbs stayed around 200 and my fat around 75. Diets for have been a bit of trial and err and also I throw in something green with every meal. Good luck

      stats update: 201.3 lbs @ 16% bf

really really disappointed. again i had a cheat meal, more like a cheat day on saturday where i ate a burger and a half, tons of watermelon, and some corn tacos in the evening. all other days are on point. sunday i ended up doing just shy of 2 hours of cardio split in morning and evening to make the 9 - 30 min session goal i set for each week. it either appears that those meals on saturday really fucked me up or i still dont know what im doing.

regardless of cheat meal or cheat day something is not right here. either cheating just doesnt work for me period or my macros are not on point.

with that being said i am making some adjustments. i really dont want to be doing this all summer long, i just want to break that fucking goal. ive been at this since february. i am switching my macros to 50/20/30 p/c/f. apparently my TDEE is 3320 so if i slice 500 calories off that number i should be right at fat burning stage. meal plan adjustments in next post.

so after that post i gave it about a week before i decided to "f" it. i am still maintaining the meal plan just now including fruit, and not beating myself up about burger, fries, and a coke on saturdays. plus with this summer heat nothing beats a nice ice cold coke or thomas kemper rootbeer. i dont want the summer to pass me by and not be able to enjoy a lot of the summer fruits like watermelon, rianier cherries, grapes, etc.

i have also not been adamant about maintaining 9 - 30 minute sessions of cardio. weekly average has been about 7 - 30 min sessions. since my last post i have also changed the weight lifting routine as i have been focused on volume short rest weight training for several months now. currently i am back to lifting heavy for sets of 10, 8, 6, & 4; however i am sticking to short rest periods between sets just not as strict about it. before it was timed strictly at 30 sec rest periods, now its anywhere between 30 and 60 seconds rest.

last change: rather than doing a bunch of machine cardio mainly on a stationary bike i am dedicating most of my cardio time to jogging/running outdoors. usually start my day off with anywhere between a 30 - 60 min fasted run. i feel that this has been the biggest influence to the update seen below:

      stats update: 198.6 lbs @ 13.6%

very interesting, and this was a HUGE surprise for me to go form 16% to 13.6%.
