What I have her do is wrap the floss around the ham and do simple squats and lunges to stretch and hopefully loosen up the nerve to create better motion . I apologize to Bazooka because I did not see that most of your pain is coming from your lower back . So yea , Guns is right . I should have elaborated more , my bad people !!!
But maybe , and this is just my thought , you could wrap the Voodoo Floss around your lower back and do some stretching exercises ???
      It might work ??? I'm not sure , just a thought !!!

This is a common epidemic with many lately, including me. Do you do a lot of sitting in a chair at a desk for work? Mine has become worse since going back to work and sitting at a desk. My mom was having SAME exact issue, same side and everything...got her a foam roller and tennis ball and showed her what to do and to do it daily, her pain is going away...she was amazed!!! Chiropractic isn't the cure, foam rolling and stretching is key. Seriously it is happening to A LOT of people, and yes the Piriformis muscle is the culprit for the pinched Sciatic Nerve, as well as the Medial Glutes, Hamstrings, and other muscles in the area. Trade the couch or recliners for the floor.

I have had the same prob. stretching has helped me SO much. in the morning before my shower i spend 15 minutes stretching glutes, hams, quads. lower back and hip flexors. I do this every day morn and night (night normally about 10 minutes. and I stretch every hour or so during the day. took about a month to see results but one day I was sitting watching TV and I noticed i did not hurt. almost brought a tear to my eye. Stretching goes double for when you work legs, especially hams and glutes. If i squat and do not stretch I know I will be in terrific pain. I go sit in the sauna and stretch for 15 minutes after legs. then stretch again before bed. take magnesium citrate and 2 grams of gaba before bed. it helps relax the muscles while you sleep.

also do NOT cross your legs when you sit! it aggravates the sciatic nerve. use good posture, i roll up a towel behind my lower back to help.

if you do what I say and it does not help you in 2-3 weeks I would be surprised. I am damn near 50 and have been going hard for over 25 years. I have had back surgery to try to help and what I am telling you is the only thing that has helped. I am 90% because of this.

and i know it sounds crazy. i did not believe it myself until i got a groupon and tried it. but acupuncture helped take away about 50-60% of the pain for a few days at a time. brother, i know, it sounds stupid but IT WORKS!

I just wanted to let you all know that I saw my Dr. yesterday and he thinks it is a Bulging Disk that is hitting the nerve. He gave me Prednisone for the treatment. If It works and pain goes away then I will not get MRI right away. If it doesn't get better then I would have to do MRI, injections of Cortizone, and I hope no surgery with a fusion of my 2 disks. Thanks everyone and I will keep you posted for the next week. Have a great day.

I have been on the p rednisone now for 10 days and the pain my back is just about totally gone. It is a miracle drug. Now I just have to get rid of the swelling in my knee from hindering that leg while I was injured. Thanks for your help.

Yes it does rftake inflammation down but not good to stay on long term. Hopefully you will get some ongoing relief from it. I personally only get relief while I am actually taking it but once done, pain is back

That's what I was kind of worried about. I have 10 more days to take it and I'm supposed to let the doctor know once I'm done if it helped or is any better. What did you do after the prednisonedidn't work for you?

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. It is much appreciated. I am going to try your way and see what kind of improvements I get from it. The next thing they're talking about doing if using my back. That to me is not an option. I'm only 36 years old and I feel like there should be a natural cure for this. I will keep you posted throughout the next couple weeks on my progress. Thank you very much.

I agree with you totally. Thanks for the awesome input and advice I will be hitting the floor from now on instead of sitting down. I do have lots of different types of foam rollers and roller balls for pressure points that I use. I think I just need to do it more frequently. Thanks

Limit stairs , as well, when inflamed. Any kind of movement that brings your knees up and when you sit in a seat. make sure you are not sitting on an angle where your hips are below your knees
