TweetI mentioned in my log about my shoulder injury .After the dust settled its more than likely a small lat tear. I have bruising in my lower (not in the pit) but more along the lower arm area twords the arm pit. Right after the injury I could not lift my arm abov my head and could not pull down. Its been four days and I can raise my arm fine and do light presses. I dont want to tear the thing worse but dont want to give up the cycle. Thinking about doing light push work and cardio for two weeks til bruising subsides. What do you guys think?
Not going to the doc, and from the pics and description of a large tear this is minor. Ill get a pic up of it soon.

TweetHopefully its nothing worse than a tear. The brusing is a tell tale sign along with the weakness to lift your arm. It can heal on its own but takes awhile. I have a tear in my lat area,it's fine most of the time but heavy shuts will aggrivate it so I don't do shugs too much. Try to work around it till its fully healed. Take care bro

TweetHere's a pic. I did it doing pull-ups and I could feel some things pop. Did some push-ups and curls today, seemed ok.

TweetI've never torn a muscle by itself, only with a broke bone. So idk really what to do. But it's not worth getting hurt worse, you can always run another cycle later, you only have one body.

TweetIt's really on how u feel man . If it's too much then just do another exercise , different type of movement !!!
U can always train without having to go so heavy or push so hard .
I push thru the hurt sometimes , but for me if it gets to be too much I'll switch things up .
I know how u feel about stopping mid cycle , fuckin sucks , I would feel the same bro . It's happened to me .
TweetIve always been the one to preach go to a doc get a MRI if you have insurance, you can only make it worse and if your on tyhats the question stay on or go off or do just a hrt dose.If you don't want to see a doc then take a week off and ice it up 2x a day

Tweetlike i said in your post man, if you dont have any dents holes or deformities where you can tell something is detached you are most likely ok and only had a minor tear like 6 did. i would def not use it at all for a while and train around it just to be safe. also like fuzo said, i would try to get an mri just to find out what is damaged in there, just to be on the safe side. i have busted up so much stuff in my career, i am damn near a doctor with this crap haha.

TweetDude.. I can only tell you I thought I had a minor tear waited, then waited some more hoping time and gentle approach would fix it.. well I finally admitted failure went in for a MRI and well fucked is about all I can say. Never had bruises or pitting just pain and weakness.
What I had was torn bicep detached tendon compressed discs and best of all complete seperation of cartilage from shoulder. Sometimes feels minor aint so minor. Yes it wasn't cheap getting all this crap done but atleast I know and will fix it. If its feeling like you might need to get an MRI do it. I only gets worse if you wait as well as more costly.
now I can't even lift much at all and am suffering the fate of procrastination waiting till I can get surgery.
Dont wait if it dont change
TweetThanks guys. Im gonna give it a bit and just work around it. Did a small session today and for the most part it seems ok. Its a bit tender and Im gonna play it safe for a few weeks. Only thing im scared to do is any kind of pulling motion. Pushups, presses and things seemed fine. Plan, take the whole week off from lifting and do legs and cardio and reevaluate. The cyle continues for now.
Side note, last time I went to my doc with a shoulder injury the regiment is pt and if that does not help then they do an MRI.

Tweetthey do things so ass backwards...ugh. either way, tell the doc it didn't help, lol

Tweetif you injure a joint or lig 9 out of 10 times you wont see any bruising or deforming. that is unless you completely detach say a distal tendon where the bicep rolls up or say a calf. most of the time the only time you get rolling is when it is a single tendon insertion. areas like back and shoulders that are held together by more than one, you many see nothing at all. now when you see a bruise in an area that means most likely you have torn or partially torn muscle. any time you hurt something to the extent that you cant use it, i say go see the doc just to make sure it isnt severe

TweetIll keep this updated a bit along with my journal. Im about five days into the injury and I think the bruising has peaked. Its not nearly as bad as some photos ive seen like 6p6 for example. I have full range of motion with very little pain. As far as over all strengh, its not weak but im also not gonna press 140 on it anytime soon. I can push ups and curls as I have stated. No noticeable deformities. Im gonna keep a close eye on it.

TweetIf you got insurance I would still go get it looked at personally. If you are like me can deal with pain pretty well, you might be hurt worse than you think and not know it.
I would have used to say just work past it, but if you rest honestly you will probably come back stronger than you were before you even hurt it.
