Morphine is actually rather weak compared to other opioids that are prescribed. Even though were a few different opium based elixirs before morphine was born, everything seems to be compared to morphine though. It's basically the same as how testosterone is the "gold standard" and all other steroids are essentially compared to it. For instance Fentanyl is considered 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine by weight. Basically a few drops of fentanyl under the tongue is enough to kill someone that doesn't have a tolerance opioids.
