
Immediately after NBC unveiled its mid-season lineup, with Communityconspicuously absent, #sixseasonsandamovie started trending on Twitter, a reference toAbed’s reaction after hearing that his own favorite TV show (Cougar Town)was rescheduled. Since then, “six seasons and a movie” has become the newrallying cry for Community’s die-hard contingent, a fittingly meta mantrafor a meta show. And so, instead of signaling the end of all thingsCommunity, as many assumed, NBC’s press release mobilized the fan base,whipping them into a <ahref="http://www.askmen.com/entertainment/special_feature_3700/3787_5-things-social-media-tells-us-about-manhood.html">socialmedia frenzy of Facebook pages and retweets in an attempt to rescue the cult show fromthe scrap heap. Now, weeks later, the “Save Community” campaign continues togain steam and was helped even more when the sitcom was named TV Guide’s2011 “Fan Favorite.” All of which is more than we can say about CougarTown, which was likewise recently left off ABC’s mid-season schedule todecidedly less fanfare (though we can only imagine how Abed’s taking it).
