Then let's assume I'm the 1% that does. I am a two time Iraq war veteran and been back 4 more times (1 Afghanistan) since getting out and heading back for another 6 months to Iraq in the next couple months. My job has to do with surveillance for the Army and prior to that the Air Force. I assure you that by telling the Taliban and Al Qaeda that you plan to withdraw will not settle easily. My prediction is a lot more Americans will be killed while trying to save a country that is not worth saving. Anyone who has ever been to Afghanistan will understand what I mean. It is a dump, 10 times worse than Iraq. It is dirt roads, caves, and people living in ancient times. I would like to be more optimistic but I have seen that hell hole and do not know how in the world we will even be victorious. The Russians failed after 10 years of trying and realize that they do not fight under the same bs rules that we do. Our soldiers have to worry more about getting punished by their own government than what the enemy may do to them. Anyway, my point is the President's speech was horrible and apparently you know nothing about military strategy, and if you were in the military I hope to hell it was not an intel unit. But as for why wars start I will agree with you Trip that it is mostly financial, and of course for more world power. However, my point is to wage a war correctly you do not give out the fact that you may withdraw after 18 months, as we are fighting a patient enemy. We should pull the hell out and beef up our defenses. The only way to fight this war is by massive carpet bombing and that won't happen.

Now, add in state and county budgets, if you think california is the only ones, think not, they all have massive massive budget problems, not some measely 2-5%, 15-20-30% problems, that will only get worse as you take into account budgets and borrowing were based on 30% higher for taxes, and sales taxes 20% higher, each year it is going to get worse for them.

Watch next year, and weep, we haven't seen foreclosures even near an end, all of the option arms reset next year, they are expected to default at higher than subprimes, which were from 05-07, these arms go back 03-04-05-06, and everyone is way underwater and there rates will be going up 20-30%

Well like I said the liberals are in for a huge change when they lose there seats in 2010. I have a post I have to put up its a state budget from each state that have to pay into this healthcare if it was to ever happen and the amount will bLow everyone away on how much each state has to pay. You think the govonors are going to like that especialy the democratic ones. That means they will have to raise taxes. But it wont happen but its a great article
