Let me break it down so everyone can understand it and this thread can be closed.
What is happening over in russia/Georgia is the equilant of having Maine Vermont and New Hampshire being socialst wanna be's and having a friendly soicialst neighbor on their border to the north. States south of this are democratic republics and are capitalist. They have been fighting for some time now (which is part of a democratic process) and the notherners want mother north to hand hold them. THEY have been causing all sort of problems (rebels, bombings) and our southern states spanked them for crossing the line. Now If Cananda rolled over the border with tanks and armored personell, bomed oil pipelines within southern states without cause and blamed it on the south... What would you think?

well first off democratic republics is kind of an oxymoron...they are 2 different types of goverment...and south ossetia claimed its independence from georgia in 1992...so that makes it ok for georgia to bomb them and kill innocent civilians and makes russia wrong for stepping in and saying that its not okay to do so?..is that what america does all the time?
i guess its ok when we do it.....sometimes you have to read between the lines...and leave the great state of maine out of it....lol

So let me get this right... We CAN engage in other countries civil disputes as long as the invading country is a socialist nation and the only result can be an annexing of this nation. If it is a democratic countries civil dispute and we intervene, then we talk about the war mongering prersident and how hes getting rich off the war. I get it now.

Same thoughts of yours rearanged in past posts. You would never support a democratic nation intervening in a CIVIL dispute of a socialist one. Because its the other way around you claim there is ethnic cleansing. If you are going to try to rally support through buzz words, use new ones. I happen to know a little more than what has been on the news or what article someone has written. My ex-girlfriend is from there, she just visited there in June and I spoke with her at great length about it. I'm sure it has no validity to you.

Georgia attacked South Ossetia, Russia moved in to help defend South Ossetia from Georgia.

What they rarely report in the news is that South Ossetia declared independence back in 1992 and consider themselves to be the Republic of South Ossetia - not part of Georgia. No member nation of the United Nations has ever recognized the Republic of South Ossetia to be a separate country from Georgia.

Georgia has been working on NATO membership for some time and aspired to be a member in 2009. If they were already a member that would mean this would be a much bigger mess as NATO countries are obligated to help "defend" each other.

Georgia was part of the Soviet Union. Russia absolutely and most definitely does not want Georgia becoming a member of NATO.

okay...let me clear this up because i can see that fe is is clearly confused as to where i stand here...first off you did not quote any of my words...that was a news article that i posted that you quoted...it clearly stated at the top of the article that it was written by mike whitney...my name is eric...so...thats one...2..i never said we should intervene...i NEVER said that..EVER...all i was pointing out with this ENTIRE thread is that russia invaded georgia because they were commiting ethnic cleansing in south ossetia....i dont think we should intervene because one its not our business and 2 it will only lead to more conflict with russia which will in turn lead to more conflict with iran and possibly china...can you say cold war?
i dont know how youve completely managed to misinterperet my posts but ive never once said anything about intervening...and as far as annexing...south ossetia doesnt want to be part of georgia..they made that clear long ago...russia is in the right here..maybe they used some wrong tactics but like ive said for weeks..georgia started this mess and they want us to get involved..which would be detrimental to us...
are you still confused? i dont know how better to explain myself on this issue...
