Re: In the blink of an eye

Thanks for the prayers everyone! I've got great news. They've stopped the bleeding, her pupils are responding and she has a gag reflex. She has multiple broken bones but it seems that she'll make it. I know it'll be a very long road but it seems as though she's gonna actually pull through this!
What happened was she was goin down the dirt road she lives on and somehow lost control of the suv. She flipped a couple of times and was tossed out. All three of her kids were with her but only one wound up with a broken arm, the others are fine. Lisa was found by a hospice nurse who drove up only minutes after the accident. Lisa had been thrown approx. 50 yards and was gurgling blood. The nurse got her bag and suctioned about 40cc's out of her, and she stopped breathing. The nurse then started cpr until EMT's arrived and got her outa there. I'll keep all of you updated and again, thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Re: In the blink of an eye

I just saw this, and I'm glad to hear your friend is doing better.

I know what you mean about "a blink of an eye". Did you hear about the explosion at sugar refinery plant near Savannah? A former co-worker's mom called this morning. He moved to south GA, and is now working at that plant. He was working when the explosion occurred and is in the hospital with over 75% burns on his body.

Yeah I heard about that earlier today. So far they're sayin around 6 dead and many more injured. Sorry to hear about your friend, they'll prolly end up sending him to Augusta, they have an excellent burn center there.

Re: In the blink of an eye

I forgot about Augusta. That's where the medical college is, and it's suppose to be a awesome school. Hopefully he will be in good hands. I have no idea how good Savannah's hospitals are.

I didn't realize how volatile sugar dust can be. At the company I work for we manufacture adhesives that are extremely flammable, and they are very cautious about how they handle materials. This kind of thing is something we just doing talk about here, because we don't want to even think about what could happen. Scary!!!

We just got word that he was one of the 14 people air lifted to Augusta's trauma center. He's in ICU and it's pretty bad. Keep those families in your prayers.

Re: In the blink of an eye

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Lisa is doing a little better. She's still in Atlanta and won't be coming home anytime soon, but things are looking up. She is showing signs of responding to pain and her last two CAT scans show improvement. They've put a metal rod into her thigh (her femur was broken in 4 places) and she's still gonna take quite a bit of time with her multiple other broken bones: pelvis, jaw, shoulder, arm, etc........

That's good to hear. I hope she can keep improving and heal all of the damage she sustained.

Kite, it's good to hear that she is recovering.

Kelly, our former co-worker, didn't make it. He passed away yesterday morning. It's so sad. He was such a good guy. The have been reports that he was safely out of the building, but went back in to help people get out.
