exactly. The white over black inequality is what drew national coverage. Not the actual black on white violence, which proves your statement wrong.

excellent example of racism. He tells you "where he came from, Montgomery, the blacks always call the white guys at work sir to keep out of trouble." That's a perfect example of the race card in play. I'm not saying that he has never been a victim of racial descrimination, but what I'm saying is it isn't always "because they're black." We all say sir and mam to everyone. I say it to my daughter, nieces and nephew. That's just how we show respect and teach manners.
I was in a heavy equipment shop the other day. The shop foreman was black. The foreman called the white man that was helping him "boy" a couple times, trying to get the man to hurry. No big deal right? If it was the other way around...a white shop foreman calling a black man "boy"... You would really here about that. He would have told you his white foreman that he used to work with was racist for calling him boy. The sad thing is it sounds like you would believe it too because you have this generalized preconceived notion about the south that you believe as fact.

The Jena 6 story itself proves this statement bogus. The beating itself isn't what drew attention which was the black on white crime. The so called white over black inequality is in fact what brought on national coverage.

i will say one thing though about my thoughts on this subject, i own a clothing store right on the dividing line between the black & white communities in my home town. i have yet to have any white customers steal from me but i have had numerous black customers either try to steal and get caught or actually get away with it!!!
i also have to deal with the black customers coming in and asking me for additional discounts on everything i sell and if i dont give them any they develop an attitude towards me because i am white. more than once i have been accused of not giving them a discount because they are black and im a white store owner. this is far from the truth, my pricing is typically 40-50% off the manufacturers ticketed price and i have not only never had a white customer ask for additional discounts, most of them have commented on how low my pricing already is!!
it has gotten so bad that all the ubanwear clothing had to be moved to the front of the store directly next to my register so i can watch it because this is what keeps getting slolen. i am in the process of closing out all my urbanwear clothing and will never bring anymore into my store because of the theft problems
now my question is, should i be considered racist which is what the blacks are calling me because i dotn want to carry the clothing they want me to or should i be considered a smart businessman for getting rid of something in my store that attracts theft?
Sorry to hear that you are getting your stuff stolen. I think you are doing the right thing by not selling what is mostly stolen. Do you live near a ghetto? You are right about the website only showing one side of the story, but there will be the same bias' on the other side as well. My whole gripe is trying to lock those 6 kids up for 22yrs. The punishment doesn't fit the crime. They were just fighting to beat the racist bastard's ass not to kill him.

superintendent dismissed the nooses as a "prank," more Black students sat
under the tree in protest. The District Attorney then came to the school
accompanied by the town's police and demanded that the students end their
protest, telling them, "I can be your best friend or your worst enemy... I
can take away your lives with a stroke of my pen."

A series of white-on-black incidents of violence followed, and the DA did
nothing. But when a white student was beaten up in a schoolyard fight, the
DA responded by charging six black students with attempted murder and
    conspiracy to commit murder.

It's a story that reads like one from the Jim Crow era, when judges, lawyers
and all-white juries used the justice system to keep blacks in "their
place." But it's happening today. The families of these young men are
fighting back, but the story has gotten minimal press. Together, we can make
sure their story is told and that the Governor of Louisiana intervenes and
provides justice for the Jena 6. It starts now. Please join me:

The noose-hanging incident and the DA's visit to the school set the stage
for everything that followed. Racial tension escalated over the next couple
of months, and on November 30, the main academic building of Jena High
School was burned down in an unsolved fire. Later the same weekend, a black
student was beaten up by white students at a party. The next day, black
students at a convenience store were threatened by a young white man with a
shotgun. They wrestled the gun from him and ran away. While no charges were
filed against the white man, the students were later arrested for the theft
    of the gun.

That Monday at school, a white student, who had been a vocal supporter of
the students who hung the nooses, taunted the black student who was beaten
up at the off-campus party and allegedly called several black students
"nigger." After lunch, he was knocked down, punched and kicked by black
students. He was taken to the hospital, but was released and was well enough
to go to a social event that evening.

Six Black Jena High students, Robert Bailey (17), Theo Shaw (17), Carwin
Jones (18), Bryant Purvis (17), Mychal Bell (16) and an unidentified minor,
were expelled from school, arrested and charged with second-degree attempted
murder. The first trial ended last month, and Mychal Bell, who has been in
prison since December, was convicted of aggravated battery and conspiracy to
commit aggravated battery (both felonies) by an all-white jury in a trial
where his public defender called no witnesses. During his trial, Mychal's
parents were ordered not to speak to the media and the court prohibited
protests from taking place near the courtroom or where the judge could see
    them.

Mychal is scheduled to be sentenced on July 31st, and could go to jail for
22 years. Theo Shaw's trial is next. He will finally make bail this week."

Also races aside, no one should be tried as an adult for a school yard fight. Attempted murder and 22 years in jail does not fit the crime.

So, the black kids see a white hang out. Instead of going over and introducing themselves, they went and asked the principal if they could sit there. Let's take it from the top so maybe you can get where I'm coming from. You have a group's hang out spot. 6 guys notice this hang out spot. There's a whole high school of other places to hang out, but these 6 guys want to hang out at that group's hang out. Instead of going over and saying "hi, my name is Mike Bell. What's yours?" and making friends, they go and ask the principal if they can hang out there.

I'm from the south...went to high school in the south. I know how it is in the south so let me explain how things work. If we wanted to hang out with some folks, we would do exactly that. Go over extend a hand for a friendly hand-shake and say "what's up". If we wanted to start some shyt we would just go over and take a group's spot. Take the race bs out of it. That's just code of conduct.

because they knew that if they went to the "white" hangout spot without permission they'd get in trouble or beat anyway. it ain't like NYC down there champ. the blacks there know they are treated as second class citizens there. a brotha in NYC who was told he coulldn't go to a spot cuz it's "white" would laugh himself silly and then whip someone's ignorant ass. obviously you have it in your head that it was the black people's fault and all the logic and explanation will be useless to you since you are convinced you are 100% correct in your assertions. i deal with that ignorance quite often so i know it's a losing battle.

Why doesn't it make sense to ask to sit in a tree in a certain spot? Anyways look at these copy cats. I think more beat downs are going to occur.

it was documented by the principal that the kid personally asked if the black kids could hang out in the spot because it was one of the only shady spots in the school yard. so yes, unless the principal himself is lying the kid did go to him and it was refered to by the man himself that it is known as "the white kids tree" so i don't understand why you assume they started trouble just to be asses. it's human nature that when you intentionally prohibit someone from going somewhere you will want to go there too. you're right the kids should have been harmonious but when the principal gave permission instead of seeing how things would play out the whote kids went and launched a "pre-emptive" strike by throwing out the racial bait of the noose, how did you expect the kids to react to a hot button issue like a noose?
