    Re: The runaway bride...

I didn't hear about the amber alert - it was my understanding that she fessed up within an hour of the police arresting her. Hence not much money, if ANY was spent searching for her "abductors". The lawyers I work with say the state doesn't have much of a case.

but there is something wrong with filing a false police report. and god knows how much it cost to track her down.

With that being said - what makes me angry is that she said a hispanic male and caucasion female abducted her!

Especially in Duluth. It's in Gwinnett County, where I used to live, and there are tons of hot women in Gwinnett.

SORRY S.B., I BELIEVE SHE CALLED 911 TO REPORT HER "ABDUCTION". I COULD BE WRONG, I'M JUST GOING BY THE NEWS. (NOT THE MOST ACCURATE MOFO'S!)BUT, STILL DONT THINK "COLD FEET" JUSTIFY CALLING IN FALSE "ABDUCTION" TO 911.

                  Re: The runaway bride...

filing a police report means she has to actually SIGN it - she reported a false activity which is different.

i am not trying to mince words, but I don't think a large scale (or ANY scale) search went on for her "abductors" hence no actual gov't money was spent on that.

money was spent. police and fbi were involved. if any goverment agency spend more than an hour on her case, money was spent. bottom line is this, if this would have been a male, it wouldnt have even made it to local news.

the real idiot here is the to be husband that still wants to marry this lunatic. look at her eyes, she's a nut!

                      Re: The runaway bride...

Well, even if no search really did take place in New Mexico (damn news), one did in Duluth. Hundreds of people, included government employees, searched for her for two days. That cost money. When she reported her abduction, the police had to go get her. That cost money. The investigators had to stop what they were doing to get her sotry and interview her. That cost money. No matter how you slice it, she caused government employees to stop what they were doing and invest their time into her lie. That's a waste of resources, resources that we pay for.

As far as the guy, he has to marry her now. No one else is going to touch her with a 10 foot pole.

actually, i've heard reports of over 60 grand was spent by local law enforcement alone. not including fed. dollars, plus the shifting of resources away from "real" crimes and injuries. while i respect your opinion sugar, i believe they need to prosecute this girl. i see no excuse. it dosent matter how cold your feet get, dont call 911, dont claim to be abducted.

                            Re: The runaway bride...

I understand that the local government spent time looking for her - but like i said, there is NOTHING wrong with leaving and not telling anyone. She is an adult who is free to do that. I think it was disrepectful and irresponsible, but not worthy of reprucussions by the gov't.

As for the NM police checking out her story - they would drop everything and check out a story on a missing child in a heart beat - even if the child was just hiding in the parents house and fell asleep when playing "hide and go seek". - in that case no one was hurt, no one was really missing, but it was important that the person be found.

I think we should all be thankful that a) she was alive and well and there isn't another murderer/rapist that we need to look for and b) that she is able to get the mental help she needs for lying and feeling she needed to escape.
