  • Green Coffee Bean Extract Lowers High Blood Pressure

What is green coffee bean extract?

Coffee berry is the fruit of coffee tree. It contains green seeds (also known as beans) where green coffee bean extract is derived from. Green unroasted coffee bean is rich in chlorogenic acid, which is a type of beneficial polyphenol (antioxidant).

Benefits of green coffee bean extract

One of the benefits of green coffee bean extract is its effect in lowering blood pressure.

Studies have shown that green coffee bean extract is effective against hypertension and is safe for use in people with mild hypertension (high blood pressure). It is suggested that chlorogenic acids, the potent antioxidants in green coffee bean extract, may reduce oxidative stress, improve endothelial (inner lining of coronary vessels) function and thereby, reducing blood pressure.

Does drinking coffee offers the same blood pressure lowering effect?

No. Coffee beans used for making coffee drink are roasted, so most of the beneficial chlorogenic acids have been destroyed.
